Wow, I start my first big boy job after college on Monday and this video was so helpful One issue i’ve always had with my part time jobs in the past is not being able to develop good relationships with managers due to sort of being intimidated or having a mental block due to the authority Also being an introvert I preferred to just keep my head down and get my work done That cannot happen with this as this is now my career! I want to go in on day 1 being able to build a good relationship Im going to go into our very first meeting with the intention of getting to know him more, and set expectations for each other as well as set up the ability for him to track my accomplishments Thank you so much!brbrUltimately im going to go into the job in general with an open mindset: im here to learn as much as possible, give me any opportunity to learn or challenge myself, i want to get certified in PowerBI and Python Comment from : Purple Emoji |

Do you have any advice on how to achieve this effectively with a direct manager that talks so much, you literally can’t get a word in? Meetings are just listening to her and she doesn’t ask if I have questions or gives me an opportunity to speak I literally have to interrupt to contribute but she seems bothered by that, which makes sense Interrupting is never okay Its very frustrating and feels like you are not a contributor, just there to listen and do as you’re told She’s super nice so it just seems so odd Any thoughts? One thing I did for my new job was to fill out all the HR forms early (or have your info with youbankingetc) I was lucky that my employer sent them in an email, so I had time to fill them out at home and I had them ready when I met my HR person later Comment from : Stahodad |
