I did this same thing myself with a Dell Optiplex 3010 and put XP on it for gaming and it's Amazing, it has a 3rd gen I5 3470 with 8GB ram and I put a 128GB SSD and it's really fast Comment from : Ophidicus |

When it comes to Dells and some HPs even there is always a chance of a funny pinout on the power supply The bad thing about that is a standard power supply will fry the board with that funny pinout if you don't know it and don't adapt it (or maybe put the wires in the correct order) Comment from : Charles Hines |

You can turn a toaster into an XP powerhouse these days In the process of prepping a dell inspiron 570 with a LONG history for XP gaming Found this thing in a thrift store for 5 bucks - WITH A GTX 960 in it also 4x4gb of fast (for ddr3 anyway) ripjaw ram In other words, the optiplex budget PC of a bygone era this thing was someones baby, and to be honest, it wasn't bad for its time, with an overkill GPU for a windows 7 era PC, and a proper quadcore, however old by todays standard and all off a 350w psu lol They had to run a sata to PCIE adapter to give the card enough juice I wound up doing a motherboard swap to a dell optiplex with a 4th gen i5 i had lying around, bit more balanced, and sold it on for a tidy profit, and downsized it to 8gb of 1333 ddr3 and an amd firepro Benchmarks say it will take crysis in 720p medium at 45fps For an XP era system, that's more than respectable I even have a CRT for it Comment from : CurvingFyre |
