I had a mentally handicapped patient, in an adrenaline induced rage, tried to leave his hospital room He was young and had his strength It took 5 nurses plus two security guards to contain him Before they got there, I was behind the patient, preventing him from falling He would dead weight, mind you, I’m 95lbs and this guy is at least 130-140lbs Needless to say, my left shoulder is in some pain Had to file an incident report to HR

There was a patient that I would tell my siblings about the daily oddballs and/or silly things they've done that day (taking out all patient identifiers of course) The patient was mentally declining and was difficult but I (and my siblings) grew attached to thembrOne day they were acting differently and when I had fetched them, they began to shout about their parents and that they didn't want to get hit again After assessing them for any signs of current abuse and finding nothing, I could only assume the worstbrbrI happily left that detail out of that evening's storytelling

Lady with dementia came in to us covered in sun burn Turned out her husband who was her carer had gone out into the garden, had a heart attack and died brShe went out looking for him, fell and couldn't get up They laid there for 3 days in the height of summer until the son came to visit and found them bothbrbrIt was heartbreaking, but at least she was too confused at the time to really understand what was happening
