The song is so well produced most people don't notice the extra guitar, piano and strings or synth that comes in at 1:50, the producers (when Nashville had no use for him) did not dare mess with that Cash rhythm style, Thats why he agreed to do the album To have that much music and lyric left in him at that age, was given by The Man Who Comes Around Love you guys' great job, wish we were friends!!!

This came out in the mid 90’s? Totally about the second coming of Christ, and the book of Revelations Look at the last 3 years, crime has skyrocketed to astronomical levels all over the world! I have a friend who went to her home town in Equador recently for the first time in 20 years…she said the crime was so fucking out of control down there, that she was counting the days when she could get back to the States! I always thought this song represented j cash the best and it resonates with everyone the most "The man" is whatever or whoever you believe in coming to collect debts for the bad things you have done myself much like j cash are spiritual people and I try to be the best I can i do screw up, sometimes big time and fall off this song represents that battle inside those of us that are inherently good whether religious or not that goes back and forth no matter how honest or good you are your always a stone's throw away from falling off This song really kinda scares the shit out of me sometimes and reminds me why as shitty as the world is becoming I should treat everyone like family

Great video, my thoughts exactly, watching from Canada, Cash was man that had some time and struggled but had been raised in the church and when he could he gave back and sang for the inmates to brighten there lives in some of the toughest prisons in America, and even they could relate to him and appreciate him They sure don’t make music like they used to Cheers !
