The Outlast team have forgotten why the original was so scary brbrLow budget and development restrictions brbrNo protagonist voice brbrJust a dude in an old shitty asylum with a camcorder who couldn't fight back, and it was so immersive brbrI didn't like Outlast 2 because the character speaking, took away the sense of it being ME walking through those murky halls, with the tedious "My girl is in trouble" clichebrbrGame makers and movie makers have all lost the art of implanting fear They just don't understand it anymore

The first Outlast was amazing, so it was hard to make a follow up game better than that Outlast 2 wasn't as good as the first one, but damn it was good It was suspenseful and disturbing, which is what made it good

Im really really hoping that this game will be something new in the outlast family brI playd the last two games and i absolute loved the camcorder feature in combination with the darkness and the crucifix satan possessed mood that you get when you play that in the dark alone at home Im hoping that this will give us also a good ammount of fear in the dark when we play it alone at home brbrMaking real good horror games is not easy A lot of small indiestudios take this lightly and think it's not a big deal But that's exactly it brA good horror game needs a lot of good custom mocap animations, which in turn need a lot of time and attention to detail to look good in the game And they don't just have to look good, they also have to feel good This aspect paired with a playable story that contains a lot of horror is not easy to implement because we also need good scary moments that make up a game like this Scenes and sections of the game in which we as players almost shit our pants And all of this needs to feel fluid across the board brThere are just too many games that uses simple post-processing effects and box colissions that invoke cheap effects when entering the desired spotbrCutscenes or crappy png blood overlays with a scarry sound brbrHowever, the devs from outlast have always made an effort to pack everything into the game It always felt reasonably fluid, even if the moments of shock weren't that overwhelming in the pastbrIn this trailer we can see that they simply back up the scary moments with a little more and agressive brutality Add a pinch of brutality and you shit your pants a little more ^^brCan't wait to play the end result

im a bit on the fence about outlast 3 tbh i feel like the thing that separated outlast from other horror games was that you weren't able to fight back, they made you feel like running was the only option (leaning into the fight or flight of the players) that, and the intense feeling of isolation when playing the games, as you feel like the entire world is out to kill you Both of which have been shifted in this new game by allowing you to fight back and adding in multiplayer brbrTo me it looks like a saw game more than an outlast game I just hope im wrong because it seems like every good game series flops after they make the "multiplayer only" mistake

Oooh, so it isnt outlast 3, its finally Outlast Trials lol I was a bit concerned that they added fighting but this makes more sense I believe their actual plans for the gameplay of Outlast 3 will be similar to Outlast 1 and 2, or so I read a while back, while trials is actually a multi-player experience
