Just wondering why they show the 2stroke xcw in the video when talking about the ktm500exc?

Peter Molloy
Not once did I see the kind of riding I would do on my Afric Twin This is trail riding, for which I would use my XR650R
Comment from : Peter Molloy

Reginvalt
It's funny how marketologists invented "adventure" bikes as an answer to clients with boring life Monetizing consumer search of a bike which will un-suck person's life :) It's a tautology to start with

WD
Get Beta 390 RRS Basically same as 390 RR except already street legal

Brent Cheney
People scared to ride a 1200/1250gs in the dirt cant ride They are phenomenal bikes for the size and are hard to beat for intercontinental adv riding
Comment from : Brent Cheney

Van Cuoc
This bike was really easy to assemble wwwyoutubecom/post/UgkxMesz3KOGEmwmvyKQfLfrRSUXLFzfVHZA and required very few adjustments out of the box The wheels did not require any truing/adjustments The frame had some small scratches, but nothing majorI did replace the seat though - the seat it came with was very uncomfortable The tires need to be re-inflated every 4-5 days, but this appears to be quite common for the narrow 700x25 tiresOverall, in my opinion, this bike looks and rides like a much more expensive bike
Comment from : Van Cuoc

Eric Harris
My 24 year old wr eats these euro bikes for lunch How much is that 450 Dacar KTM? 25k

Boy, it sure is a good thing that the government made Honda do that to 1st gear I'm sure it will totally make a difference in global pollution 🤡
Comment from : some guy

Swissjanu
from fantic you can buy a "yamaha" 450 rally bike, this would be a very good bike if you dont want to build it by your self and its a 450 xamaha engine so it will run forever😂
Comment from : Swissjanu

Biomorphic
Less than 10000 km service makes any bikes not suitable as adventure bike
Comment from : Biomorphic

TR Roland
Or, you could just get a KTM 390 ADV and done

Zydecobro bro
save yourself a shit ton of money buy a used KTM or Husky or Beta dirt bike 450 or 500cc dual sport it put a 4 or 5 gallon tank on it 50/50 tires and call it a day br275lbs of pure enjoyment brfck heavy azz adventure bikes
Comment from : Zydecobro bro

Степан Курков
Hello! I think Suzuki DR 650 should be included -although it's a bigger bike than the rest, it's only 10 kg heavier than honda 450, and in my eyes is the "true" 50/50 bike I wouldn't want to be on one of the listed bikes on a 6k km trip away from home

Will someone please explain what he means by " a good seat Hight"?
Comment from : Ian Smith

ivan
Why we need to do all this modification?brI dont see the point Just go and buy crf 300 r or klx 230-300 it will be much more cheaper and you will have ultra light adv bike
Comment from : ivan

Robert Tisch
At 6’5” and 260 lbs, I rode my 2004 XR 650 R to S America in 2006 The maximum weight rating (as stated in the owner’s manual) was 220 lbs! I had at least 50-60 lbs of gear hanging off the back in addition to my fat assbrThis BRP took all the abuse I could give itbrWe left Kentucky in late August of ‘06 for ArgentinabrWe made Santiago de Chile on November 1 st of ‘06 It was two full months of riding every day with the exception of the two days to fly from Panama City to Bogota, ColumbiabrThe point of this story? Don’t ever think that you need a huge Adv bike to travel internationally brWe met many people traveling on bikes One Dutch couple were traveling on Yamahas He, on a 600 (the mule with most of the gear), and her, on a lighter 350! They were touring South America!brYou don’t need some super expensive Adv bike to explore the world!brMaintain and use what you already own!brIt’s not about the bike It’s about the trip and all the great experiences!
Comment from : Robert Tisch

Othoap Proto
no thanks I keep my gsa, love the weight

Hard to understand accent ,if actors can learn and speak American/Canadian accent ,why cannt YouTubers who want world wide audience…
Comment from : Maro Vok

Rod Nielson
No mention of fuel capacity or economy Seems like your idea of adventure riding and mine differ greatly There's not much point if you're only going from service station to service station
Comment from : Rod Nielson

S J
The CRF 450RL has a 2 gallon tank You'll need to bump that up if you want to do any "adventuring"

Devin Garrett
whats an "ultra light" weight?
Comment from : Devin Garrett

Kai-Uwe Och
For most of us in Europe such a light bike is basically over pardon me underkill In most countries here, single trail riding is not legally possible, so we don`t really need such an ultralight machine In Germany as an example is not even any legal riding on logging roads Here in Sweden as N and FI we have tens of tousands of km of gravel roads For those a 690/701 or even 790/890/901 work great, offer more comfort and don`t need several oil changes when I am out on a multi week trip - which might easily add up to 50008000km On top of that with a little bit more luggage ( like additional hiking gear) the balance of a 901 will be much less set off than on such a light adventurized enduro brI understand that it`s of course a totally different story in regions were terrain riding is legal

Daniel Bridgewater
No Chinese option for us working stiffs who can't afford to spend a years salary on a bike?
Comment from : Daniel Bridgewater

Pedros93
Disagree with the 450L, while a amazing machine in his own right, the CRF300L is way better for Adventure Ridding 4k km oil changes and less aggressive power The CRF300L is also more manageable at lower trail speeds And the CRF300L costs half of the 450l :)
Comment from : Pedros93

KaEn
Anyone is ADV
Comment from : KaEn

SteelTube
They are called "Dual Sport", with and ADV bike you can ride 1000km in one day
Comment from : SteelTube

Kevin
Oil change every 15 hrs? Jesus christ, it uses more oil than a 2-stroke!
Comment from : Kevin

Jasper
What about Suzuki DRZ???
Comment from : Jasper

OGPokey151
I've had both the 450l and the 509 exc The 450L i did every upgrade available Its a great bike' I just felt the weight I now am on a 500 exc with moderate upgrades For offroad the 500exc is leaps and bounds ahead of the Honda But on the road The Honda cannot be touched Its so refined, but I buy these bikes for the offroad capabilities So the 500 exc for me
Comment from : OGPokey151

Hair
How about a trail bike comparison? Personally I’m not changing oil sooner than 5,000km Don’t need to want more than 200mm travel either
Comment from : Hair

Comment Account
You missed a big benefit of the Honda the stock lighting is powerful and the signal mounting is extremely durable You don't need to upgrade the headlight on the Honda

Richard Valitalo
So my 1987 xl600r is still as good as these I wouldn't travel long hwy with it but keeps going!
Comment from : Richard Valitalo

C_R_O_M__________
The 2012-2016 KTM 500 EXCs have more oil capacity than the post 2017 models so their oil change can be easily pushed to the 2-3K kms change (15/16 liters of oil) I have 330 hrs in my 2012 and about 12K kms It runs like new PS Unrestricted models are NOT 40 RWHP more like 55
Comment from : C_R_O_M__________

Dual Sport EDC
None of those bikes can be ADV bikes because they need oil changes every 500 miles and valve adjustments every 1200 miles and they're all unreliable as hell Not to mention the Honda needs an $800 ECU just to keep it from flaming out every 10 feet These bikes are all super fun to ride but I wouldn't trust them to go more than a few miles from home/the truck
Comment from : Dual Sport EDC

murkurybands
Music choice is on point for the video 👌👌
Comment from : murkurybands

Ian Parkes
Most of the beta pics show a 2 stroke , left me confused what we were talking about
Comment from : Ian Parkes

Skatefishofficial
400 Drz that's itbrBye
Comment from : Skatefishofficial

Mischi
I bought a new Yamaha WR450F 2022, you can make it street legal in Germany, but with only 17 HP which is a joke Costs a total of about 10,000 Euros The bike is my first enduro, I drive it offroad and onroad I am very satisfied, uncorcked is the power fierce but you learn it quickly to deal with it Also, you can control the throttle response via the ECU Overall a very good bike, the WR450F was the right decision Why the missing here is incomprehensible to me The Honda 450L is no longer manufactured and has been much too expensive for the offered
Comment from : Mischi

Plant Power
so conclusion? which one is the best? honda or ktm?
Comment from : Plant Power

christian olsen
I am hooked on getting a AJP PR7
Comment from : christian olsen

Paul H
Honestly I would not take any of these bikes over a KTM adventure 390 It only needs some minor mods to be adventure ready Turning a dual sport into an adventure bike always seem to consume a lot more $$ than you think at first Been there, done that brbrThat and the clock ticking on the service interval if you need to cover distance on blacktop to get to your “adventure”, which is what I need to do, makes it a non starter for me
Comment from : Paul H

Joseph Bishop
KTM 500exc has closer to 60hp unless maybe you're referencing well wheel horsepower
Comment from : Joseph Bishop

Best enduro bike ever? XR 400 Honda Indestructible Fun Very competitive
Comment from : DIRK - DIRTBAG - BAGLEY

Daniel Ryle
I think you should have added the swm500 instead of 300, would be more suitable for dual sport adventure riding!
Comment from : Daniel Ryle

HoagesMoto
Some corrections for COS viewers herebr1 Powerplant wise the beta 480 is as dosicle and agreeable as it comes, even considered the gentle giant by many (if you choose to ride it so, it's also got ample power up top just like you want for a light adv) - fueling is also spot on out of the factory (I own a 2021) There is no reason not to buy one over the rest of the range *if adv-ing is your primary focus With that in mind the beta is not a good choice for long Aussie ADV-ing - they're all (390,450,480) comparably thirsty bikes to even a votex'd crf450l and even a little more than the 500exc They also have complete plastic rear subframes and if you overpack like every rider I've ever seen does - you'll snap it with long fatigue cyclic use Amazing bikes and, while capable, probably not the optimal choice - I'm selling mine sadly for these reasons - I'm am otherwise completely in love with it and their wiring in later years is far better - I'd remove that as a common issue for recent builds br2 The SWM 300 is really a pure classic little fast trail bike, an amazing choice value wise and I'll likely be buying a used one for peanuts when I sell my 480 as my hard enduro bike but I'll be be hunting down a 450L as and ADV as nothing compares for the price when comparing similarly priced wr250r, 300l's and 6k more 500excs br3 You need to keep an eye on countershaft wear on the 500 and some other durability stuff like boiling fuel/exhuast heat shielding and general italian things similar to the beta but certainly not a bad option given the money you'll save over an EXC - I'm pretty tempted to go this route if it wasn't for economy/range concerns
Comment from : HoagesMoto

Propelled
A beefed up replaceable tail frame or would be a good thing brbrAlso, lowering the suspension two inches and tuning them for the extra weight is an amazing thing to behold You won’t miss the ground clearance one bit but will love the usability off road
Comment from : Propelled

Mark Everson
How come there's so many motorcycles that I've never heard of before like beta for example I never heard of these bikes before I'm 66 years young and had many motorcycles through the years triumphs I even had a Spanish Osa trials and a 360 El bandito Bol taco and many Kawasaki's Yamahas Hondas and other bikes and I don't know if these new bikes or any good or not if they're like a clone bike? A lot of junk out there that would cost you a lot of money for throw away
Comment from : Mark Everson

Steve biggalow
From a "KTM" owner (FE501) the power is totally fine, the 450s are way more bat shit in my experience Unless a 500 is your very first bike, totally nothing to be over whelmed by
Comment from : Steve biggalow

S V
I imagine myself changing the oil every 2 days on a ADV trip lol
Comment from : S V

John Henry
"ultra light adventure bikes" shown racing across the terrain as fast as possible Ridiculous Adventure bikes are not always ridden for speed, in fact, I would argue against it for real adventure riding This video is disingenuous and shows EVERY bike ridden as hard as possible without any adventure gear In fact, there is nothing "adventure" about anything shown in this vid Might as well call it "Ride Hard Off Road" There's no demonstration that actually shows how these bikes make good "adventure bikes", but non-stop footage of racing each one around as fast as possible using extremely skilled riders This is grossly dishonest and a bad representation of "adventure bikes"
Comment from : John Henry

Dougie Quick
690 is often bypassed as too heavy compared to 450s but the 690 is an easy 100llbs lighter than any twin and only 40llbs or so heavier than the 450 but so much more power! Better on highway and much longer intrevals between servicing The 690 is amazing in the twisties and it is honestly not bad on long highway drones especially compared to trying to do long miles on a 450 or smaller which can be miserable
Comment from : Dougie Quick

Dougie Quick
Euro 450 honda is a doggreat handling and suspension but brappy on highwaygiving up a LOT

Too much faffing with valve adjustments and oil changes with these bikes, much better off with a trail bike like the old but gold WR250R for longer adventures and less faffing

Can the Honda 450L run full heated gear? My 690 can but most light bikes can’t

good to see SWM in with the big hitters, lightweight off road isn't what it used to be, Suzuki TS 250-400, XL 185-250, DT 250 etc will we ever see bike like those again,

ThorW XR657
Honda XR650L - archaic technology - pretty bullet proof - 133 kg with tank dry after serious weight redux 149kg bunkering 19L in the long range tank Best seat in the business, plenty torque - runs all day at 120km/h
