I like acrylic because it's lighter & lasts longer Thanks for this video Now I know for sure I have to redo the silicone on my 10 gallon aquarium as I have no idea of its true age as it was given to me by my dad who got it from his sister (my Aunt) I have had it for almost 10 yrs & the last thing I used it for was my purple pincer hermit crabs who now have a brand new 20 gallon long for just the 4 of them Comment from : ajoyrod |

I’m new to acrylic tanks Do you use foam under the acrylic tanks I heard that it puts excess pressure on the bottom seams not to do it I asked clear for life and they said it don’t need it but is ok to use Lol very vage response This is my first acrylic tank don’t want 75g on my floor Comment from : Little Village Pythons |
what you have left out is that acrylic has a life spane and will deterioraet and it become brittle over time when glass duse not You have all so left out that the acrylic as it deteriorates the clarity will drop significantly and glass duse not The other very important point you have mist is the fact that acrylic can warp over time and it will happen fast in hotter climates and glass duse not Comment from : Bryan Cook |

Which material holds up better to long-term incidental Ultra Violet exposure? Not every set-up is going to be in a completely blacked out from all UV light exposure Basement All plastics begin to degrade with exposure to UV Eventually becoming very brittle And in this circumstance, under the stress of the heavy weight of the water pressure Comment from : ghos282 |

I'll stick with glass I've had a forty seven gallon corner tank for 15 years with no leaks or scratches I've had a six gallon acrylic tank for the same amount of time Thankfully with no scratches The problem becomes that the acrylic tank cost nearly twice as much as the glass tank They were both bought as kits with lights and filter The glass tank also came w/ a stand Comment from : Cat Zawadzski |
does the silicone seams in glass last 10 years when fully submerged/used or 10 years under wet or dry application? my 10 gallon maybe around 12 years old and no leak, but maybe a total of 5/6 years being used and spend thebrest if the time in storage Comment from : Mosy Mosahima |

Acrylic all the way! Bowed front?! Ugly?!?! Of course if they're built incorrectly! I have a custom built 240 gallon with 1 inch thickness and it's absolutely perfect!!! I've had a 60, 40, and 150 gallon glass aquarium and nothing beats the clarity of acrylic! Comment from : nicadmous |

totally like your videos and info I may not have the experience you do but have had lots of tanks over the years, both glass and acrylic The technical stuff is nice you present in your video but the real world choice is glass for me Just better overall, cannot justify against your technical stuff - but glass is better and more desirable Comment from : Mike Rupertus |
you should mention price in the checklist keep it up bro Comment from : Maddoxx343 |
do you think it's feasible to make several small nanos out of acrylic? Glass is much easier for me to source Comment from : TFYFWYA |
I still say glass, the fact that acrylic scratches so easily ruins the whole thing for me I have one acrylic tank and I hate it, the only reason I have it is because it's holding a 7" peacock mantis shrimp Comment from : Mike Morehouse |
Much like most of your videos it was great I've only had glass tanks but, the thought of building an acrylic tank sounds very appealing I would assume that you could build one for much cheaper Could you possibly do a comparison video of the different types of filters Ie hob, canister, sump, and refugiums? I would really enjoy knowing the positives, and negatives Thanks again for sharing your vast aquarium knowledge with the rest of us! Comment from : Christian Harnisch |

i have 2 glass aquariums and some day ill have acrylic just because it has scratches never makes a tank useless i know tons of acrylic owners who use old scratched up ones for plant grow out tanks breeder tanks quarantine tanks because unlike glass they dont shatter and rarely do the mess up unless they were sealed wrong and i have resealed a glass tank and its not all that easy of a task cleanup is annoying and the acetone smell can make some sick good job on the vidios joey, Comment from : Michael allen |
The main concern I have with building with acrylic is how permanent the seal is once you weld it If you make a mistake it is hard to undo Glass allows a little more room for error Comment from : Sam |
going rimless soon will diy thanks joey Comment from : allturdmind |
