wow aside from a little tweaking its actually a pretty simple concept very clever and ingenious Comment from : @chisloan |
I’ve built this on my offline world in zero G and a few weird things are happening to me #1 the panels turn with no gyro input at all Comment from : @colebucket1982 |
Help! Plz! When I put down a solar panel all I have is the metal frame for it and not the actual blue panels Comment from : @joejackson5708 |
I did mine,it work fine,however it shake so violently Comment from : @besttank4274 |
This a crazy clever thing Really changes how I see making things, utilizing groups of things Comment from : @lenorelestrange |
/weather clear Comment from : @kahwigulum |
Do you really need the hinge? Couldn't you just put the rotor on at a 90 degree angle? Comment from : @ploobooble1141 |
You are almost at 1k subs bud Do you wish you had carried on doing YouTube when we both started at around the same time? You would probably been at around 3k subs like me Comment from : @Starfishcentral |
This is awesome but the new update will make it easier with the custom turret controller Comment from : @SomeD00D01 |
Utterly brilliant idea, haven't seen anything like it Comment from : @Gxaps |
Genius Comment from : @nevelis |
dose this work on asteroids as well or only planets Comment from : @blunty6791 |
That's a really neat idea, thanks for sharing Comment from : @KerboOnYT |
I still dont get what the hinge is for I built this with rotors on each side of the center on a satelite like spaceship and it adjusts quite okay even after moving the satelitebrNow I'm trying to build a big one on the moon and I'm wondering if i can add a rotor on the base of my "tower" to adjust the whole tower with more solar "arms" on each side turning accordingly?brSorry for bad english Comment from : @bk3370 |
That's perfect for Xbox players Comment from : @ara8692 |
Space Engineers offline; Every DLC not available for offline use "PC Versions" the available fixes and gameplay improvements; "not available offline" (pc users} a scam endorsed by STEAMbrI find this when a line fails to deliver internet for two weeks and tried to play Space Engineers offline a class action should hold Steam responsible for this behavior a theft has occured, probably more than just a few Comment from : @earladams7695 |
Can’t get this to work haha Comment from : @loll8839 |
That's really clever Comment from : @NotWhatButWho |
This is really cool, definatley gonna try this out!brThis is the kind of creativity I love about SE, relatively simple once you know it but I would never have come up with this idea on my own brI was trying some timer block monstrosity to sync up with the amount of time half a day takes This had several issues One, this is a waaay more complicated approach which takes a lot more time, resources and space Two, the day length varies on each specific server/file settings so you can't really do a single blueprint fits all copybrAlso three, it's probably doable but my attempts were barely passable at best and used a load more blocks which if you're on a server with block limits isn't great hahabrThis however, is an improvement on all of those issues Many thanks! Comment from : @12fishcake |
Absolutely genius Comment from : @RetroPlus |
I love the "Gyroscoop of the emperor" , When did you place it ? Comment from : @glassooy1 |
I've seen similar thing built in real life on a small scale Comment from : @SteffDev |
Big brain solution Comment from : @cawfeecatt1553 |
earned a sub, thats awesome dude Comment from : @DLunacy78 |
scripless Comment from : @thatoneguywholovescats9130 |
I made this taller on the moon (with different parameters ofc) and it works great, thank you ! Comment from : @RECarms_Galia |
This is a perfect example of engineering a solution to a problembrbrQuestion though: Why the hinge? Why not just build it on the rotor with the rotor sticking out of the side of a block?brbrIn any case, a wonderful video! Comment from : @Comicsluvr |
Very well I have over 2000h in this game and this is a worthy tutorial Comment from : @H_Eli |
So simple and elegant, awesome design Comment from : @damonhawkes2057 |
Just align your panels to rotate with the plane of the sun's orbit Set the rotation to match the orbit speed Done Solar tracker with no scripts Comment from : @Tiltrotortech |
Nice Comment from : @micheallinne3159 |
Perfect for official servers Comment from : @silverfox4541 |
i connected my solarpanels on my ship with a hinge but it seems that they dont transfer the energy onto the batteries within the ship :/ Comment from : @KenjiStarwolf |
100 changing my setup BECAUSE I found this video!! Comment from : @goldridder |
very nice! but it seems i have a problem with that on my worlds as soon as i reload the world the next time it stops working any ideas? Comment from : @xeoas213 |
If i understand it correctly, the solar array will only adjust when the small grid gyroscope is supplied power by its solar panel Seems really useful and well made Comment from : @Mrstealth93 |
you said I was gonna be impressed and I was Comment from : @Clda47 |
Why didn’t you mentioned the original creator of this concept? It’s Hiddenmosquito’s design Comment from : @The_true_BoBa |
this is so clever, it's like a little wind vane for solar panels Comment from : @theprogrammer32 |
You just got your 433rd subscriber, great video ;) Comment from : @unforeseentruth5428 |
if you use a ship to place the small grid, you could do away with the hingebrThe only risk is trash collection removing the small grid if it's powered down too long Comment from : @Linus4030 |
This is a really elegant solution and actually tracking the sunbrbrI was wondering though, if we know the length of the day cycle on the server, wouldn't it be even easier to use a hinge and rotor, attach the panel and set the rotation speed of the rotor to one revolution per day? Comment from : @derkatzenfuerst6077 |
Gods it's good to see someone actually doing the trial and error, instead of nailing it with editing and blowing past the useful descriptions Bravo sir Comment from : @darkgravystains |
Wow ! This is a really nice and smart design, well done Comment from : @onevia3645 |
bBlimey this video did pretty well for views and likes/b 👍 Comment from : @Starfishcentral |
Excellent idea How does it fair against trash removal, as the goal of a grid is to remain unpowered? Comment from : @peters2928 |
This is pretty cool :3 Comment from : @JarenDarkwolf |
This is extremely big brain move Using subgrid with gyro powered by a single solar panel? GENIUS! I'd have never thought of it, kudos! Comment from : @ViniciusNegrao_ |
Dude, this is brilliant! Comment from : @orvishana1210 |
Subscribed Comment from : @robertkingswood1188 |
Good stuff, nearly 2000 hours sunk into SE, half of which is on xbox, so no scripts Lots of different methods of getting solar rotors but this is ingeniousbrbrWell done sir! Comment from : @Razielzian |
This is why the game is called ENGINEERS they can figure out a way around anything to get done what is needed! brGreat idea demo and video thanks! Comment from : @daveb4383 |
Absolutely brilliant! Thanks for sharing!! Comment from : @WarlordFlanker |
I've always just set the rotation speed to approximately the speed of the sun moving across the sky I put a camera on, look at the sun, and set a speed I check how close it is by sun down, and tweek the speed by like, 0001 rpms Comment from : @kerbalairforce8802 |
I just can't believe how this channel is so small, like one of the most useful tutorial I've ever seen on solar panels! Keep up the good work! Comment from : @peti1909 |
cant we just set a really low rotation speed for rotor?bri mean yeah, this is kind of genious Comment from : @pironiero |
That's wild! Comment from : @Moonwolfs-lair |
Nice Comment from : @003Jetfire |
