Consider storing cotton balls rolled in petroleum jelly and stored in a baggie or other storage device to use as fire starters, too Compact, easy to store, pretty reliable and pretty easy to use with either a match or your ferro rod We re-use medicine pill bottles to store things like matches or other small objects because they can be sealed/vacuum-sealed and they don’t take up much space Altoid tins are another great way to store things and they can be sealed up, too, so the contents are protected Also, be sure to keep 1-2 pairs of scissors handy if you plan to use a lot of vacuum-sealed items; the scissors will ensure you have a way to get the bags open and for small operations like that are generally safer than using a knife Lastly, remember that most knife-cutting accidents occur because people are trying to cut with a dull blade Be sure to keep your knives sharp and have some way to sharpen them as they dull brbr“Blessed be the Lord my Rock, who trains my hands for war, and my fingers for battle——” Psalm 144:1

There is a great alternative ti toilet paper, water As an Indian I've always used water and I had to once use toulet paper when I was abroad and it felt gross, hence i recommend everyone to try water, trust me it feel much cleaner

5:25, pool bleach in powder form will keep for much longer than liquid laundry bleach and provides the same functionality I have both but the pool stuff will allow me to mix up bleach as needed and not lose potency Laundry bleach needs to be replaced every 6 months or so

Anyone have thoughts on precious metals? Our fiat currency will be worthless in a real SHTF scenario I am buying silver because it is a more useful currency (I think) than gold An ounce of silver might be equivalent to $50 or so in a collapse, Gold would be $5000 maybe?

Individual use superglue Great for sealing straight cut wounds I also vacuum seal a small fire kit with Tinder alcohol kindling and some fatwood to make a right now fire should you get wet and be compromised in the cold and need something right now The whole thing is probably 3in square by 6 in long but like I say would be a right now fire and would dry out other materials

Regrow food from food You can regrow celery and onions Save some of your potatoes and plant Herbs are easy to propagate too You can get multiple tomato plants from one seed by rooting cuttings too

Having resources is key I like to propagate edible plants from cuttings I'm currently working on non patented thornless blackberries, blueberries, figs, and strawberry plants from runners ANY bartering items are good to have I'm stocking up on nails too😊

Rain barrels are great for catching rainwater but they are pricey Around $180 for 65 gallon ones I got one for $10 at a yard sale Buckets work too (food grade) just use something over them to keep debris out

This is the first prepper video I agree with Helping one another is key No one has all the skills they need to survive It takes a community brbrYou might add sheet plastic It has 100 purposes and complements duck tape well It is cheaper and more easily worked than tarps for things like collecting rainwater You can even burn it as a fire starter in a pinch Keep enough to build a shelter against poison gas

Instead of Bic lighters that run out and wear out, I prefer an old-fashioned Zippo lighter plus plenty of extra flints and cans of lighter fluid Also, either a Zippo or a Bic, when empty, can still be used to throw sparks and start a fire with tinder

For anyone that might see it, I wanted to make a comment about prepping I know preppers can get a reputation for being crazy, but EVERYONE should do a basic level, especially with climate change Severe weather is a new reality I live in Minnesota, so our main threat is tornados Because of this, I have created an emergency kit Mine is designed for 3 days The idea is if we were traped here because we were hit by a tornado, we would have a few days of supplies while waiting to be rescued I have 27 gallon tote In it I have a solar powered generator, radio, and some of the basics from this video For food I have some packs of chicken, tuna, and ready to eat rice I have a couple cans of spam, beans, fruits, and veggies Just basic simple things, but quality calories I keep this stuff in a downstairs closet that would also be our storm shelter In addition to this tote, I have another one with stuff from my military days It has my weather gear and warm clothes With this stuff I also keep a bottle of bleach, rubbing alcohol, 2 gallons of water, and 2 cases of bottled water Just keeping stuff in an accessible location is huge You don't need to go crazy with stuff or spend a fortune
