i am going into eighth grade this year and ive been wanted to be an architect for a long time, i love the thought of being able to design someone’s dream house along with my own:) i know there’s more to it than just that but that’s what excites me the most!

Hi Eric, You're the only American architect with a useful channel Your channel can help many people who are considering entering the field I have been in the field for more than 30 years, but I haven't been practicing for 13 years already It's being awful The field of architecture is not respected in the US Everyone think they can design and build The problem is that the people who do the physical work of the building are barely high school graduates, so the field of architecture will always have such a predicament We get a lot of low quality skill labores from Mexico, central and South America countries with barely grammar school Most of them don't speak English or proper Spanish, it makes it complicated They are not cheap labor anyway Construction has a lot of complications that they can't understand, even in Spanish, because they barely have grammar school level The bread and born workers sometimes are just as bad I worked in a project for less than 2 weeks at a job site A contractor sought I could produce red lines for 3 people sitting in front of a computer screen who I didn't know who they were, to find out later that they were those kind of people who are friends of contractors looking for one on one training of CAD Try training someone with barely high school in CAD Produce red lines for a bunch of high school dropouts at home and come to a trailer or office to continue working for $20/hr Some offices have serious problems with that, and try crunching a CD's with high school dropouts Sometimes, these dropouts haven't been trained on CAD Even if they come with CAD training, the architect has to produce the red lines for them The architect can't rely on those workers to be on their own and contributing to the project while the architect is coordinating with the multiple trades, the specs, etc No one can't understand what is on the drawings nor that they can produce the details, sections, elevations, floor plans, coordinate with interior designers, lighting designer, structural, mechanical, electrical, data engineers It's pure madness, total insanity Hope my comment helps those in the field or the ones considering going into it Regards from the northeast 🇺🇸 🙏

I'm 17 now, your video inspired me to pursue this career It's really hard and I lowkey regret ever seeing this video, yet at the same time I'm really happy with what I chose I decided to continue off in college civil engineering instead, it has more math, bc I realised I'm not really built for designing, numbers are my niche Wish you luck and happiness, thank you for this video ❤😊

As Structural draftsman I have always enjoyed talking with architects more than engineers I have found they tend to be more flexible on adjusting their thinking when told something is just not practical or maybe impossible with in the parameters given Love these videos Thank you for making them

I'm a software architect and for some reason this video slid into my recommendations, probably because of the search term architecture itselfbrbrI know our's are totally different worlds but I found it amazing how many parallels are there, from managing resources and talking with clients about how the product should look, as well as finding inspiration from other works And of course the working itself, structuring a house is not exactly like structuring code, but seeing your methods like printing it out and scribbling out ideas reminded me a lot of when I design the UI and try different versions to see which looks bestbrbrKeeping a greater view on the whole as well as managing costs and resources seems to be a big similarity Thank you for bringing "real" architecture closer to me!
