philips chose the stirling engine because it has no electrical ignition system that could result in electrical noise being picked up by the radio and they chose paraffin (kerosene) as fuel because it was already the most common cooking and heating fuel at that time

Than you for sharing - and your other videos on this machine It is nice to see that these machines operate and also have a good home nowbrbrIts suspected that this machine has a total efficiency of around 3-4 calculating from the fuel consumption and power delivered - so that low value could be mainly the burner´s fault how it uses the fuel brdelbut that´s 40´s/del 50´s - time well before transistor radios or oil crisis brbrMotivation for this device was to operate Phillips radios and some lights at summer cottages etc I believe So Phillips just would like to sell more radio´s - not saving the people and world with high efficiency ;)brbrFor this "Bungalow gen set" there is Phillips Directions of Use at wwwoldengineorg/members/croft/images/MP1002CApdfbr-Im not sure is it for the same exact model, but you can have a view of operation and service needed brbrShould this be compared to 40´s-50´s IC generator technology if there was one (Honda) available at that time? brbrToday with new materials and seals this may be possible to accomplish without oil, non-contact gas bearings, without belt and with some better efficiency on burner possibly keeping heat better at right place (a catalysator type flameless burner perhaps?)brAnd also make it with less material, weight and more quiet - we have better accuracy machines, materials, computers and simulators now for optimising (as Honda uses optimising and making IC´s)brIt could be a hit but with long operational life and low with service needs it could be not so good business at the end as well?
