Ok, sooooo? Whats the skinny on the wacky lmc so far? Have you figured anything out or sent it in to TPGI know its not "recommended" or "approved" but have you done a simple "Drop Test"? Im sure your well aware of what the sound it makes will tell you Just dont do it from 20feet onto some nasty, gritty coinwrecker surfacelolId start there myself and I havent seen that suggested Lastly, the fact that the Coin Silver Testing Gizmo that Im SURE you paid handsomely for is callin both of them A'ok, Silver confirmed, yea, thatd piss me off a bitAm I missing something there? Anyways, PLEASE keep us updated!!!! Good luck though!!! Comment from : Jim Sullivan |

29 is still within the mints tolerance Could it be from a sms set & just toned? Comment from : Sindelicious |
|
I think what you have is a planchette that was just out of spec Coper cents are just so pointless the mint probably doesn’t check every lot of planchettes Comment from : Fred Zoidburg |

It’s obviously struck on a silver foreign planchet A simple XRF test would tell you exactly what it was Fred Weinberg on his page has examples similar to that I’m not sure if you have taken a look at his stuff or not lately Comment from : Master Of Cents |
|
I would probably dip the odd coin first to get rid of whatever toning may be on it That will tell you its original color Comment from : John D |

Ngc greaded a 1965 cent on a silver dime planchet 25 grams I found it on heritage auctionsbr1965 Cent on Silver Dime Planchet, MS65brbr1965 Lincoln Cent -- Struck on a Silver Dime Planchet -- MS65 NGC 25gm, the standard weight of a silver dime Clad dimes typically weigh 227gm Although 1965-dated dimes are clad, 1964-dated dimes in 90 silver alloy were struck in great numbers during 1965, perhaps to use up leftover stock, or to deter hoarding This lustrous, untoned, and sharply struck wrong planchet error has only trivial surface imperfectionsbrEx: Long Beach Signature (Heritage, 2/2007), lot 3752 Comment from : Corey Nagle |

Just cut it in half!! Thats what I always do when I dont know whats in the middle of somthing!!! Comment from : Corey Nagle |
|
It doesn’t make sense for it to be silver because it should be heavier right? If a silver dime is lighter than a copper cent, take this into consideration-brbrtake a look at the 1944 steel cent and other coins that were minted on the wrong planchet, like a quarter on a nickel planchet It’s not impossible that the cent was accidentally struck on a silver dime planchet one year after they stopped being made When I went to visit the mint, I saw blank planchets all over the machinery and ground I don’t doubt that a 1965 cent can be struck on a silver dime planchet Comment from : Lima Echo Numismatics |

If it is Silver it will slide slowly downwards on a strong magnet it looks like slight (what I call) Peripheral gun bluing on the reverse of one of the coins Comment from : JC Wil |
