Is there music in this video? I took of my headphones multiple times to hear if there was a phone ringing or somethingbrbrReally Nice Video!brI just got a smart bulb because I wanted to use the wake up routine, and I thought that was all I needed But I now realized that I also need a bridge if I don't want to use the bluetooth on my phone all the timebrbrCan you turn on and off the lights when your not at home if you have a bridge?

At this moment, I only see stupid smart things that really doesn't make any difference Smart must be another level, thinking about cooking automatically, moving furnitures, watering plants if they need, choosing the last chapter of a serie, make the purchase when something is depleted these things are smart switching on and off lights and TV are not smart
Comment from : Santiago de la Peña

brewster0991
Thank you so much for censoring the word Alexa so it doesn't wake the beast 😂

God, I'd love to spend five minutes inside a house like yours with my Flipper Zero The amount of stuff I could break in that time would be astronomical

You literally should not even walk inside of a smart home if you aren't 'a little bit techy'

Nospam Allowed
Very good review and advicebrbrOne thing that you did not cover is how to do all of this without components that report to the vendor what you are doing A smart home is great but I have no desire to give marketing jerks any more insight into my personal life than I absolutely have to And since in the US we have no privacy protection laws, this is a real concern
Comment from : Nospam Allowed

Lights and such is nice and all, I was actually hoping for a smart show like "and this is how my washing mashine dishwasher fridge etc are operating in my smarthome" We have a samsung washer that can connect, our dishwasher is broken and needs to be replaced From the "smart" experience with the washer, I really wonder if I should go smart with a dishwasher Like the Bosch review I saw on a coffee machine by 2 guys that didn't even drink coffee I drink my coffee black and all I heard was milk milk milk Would I need a machine that constantanious tells me to re-filll milk, clean the frother etc, when I just want coffee? The washing mashine beeps loudly when ready How would (or do) you use dishwashers, fridges and washing machines in your smart house? For fridges I think privacy and (dish-) washers I think use only when stuff is dirty (finetune a program means press button) press start & beep when ready Looking forward to you (re)view on these kind of machines

This video is spot on for what I’m trying to do at my home Right now I am all in with Kasa TP Link and i’m very pleased with them but that may change I use these because I’m a caregiver for my wife she has Parkinson’s and it’s so much easier to say hey Google or Alexa to turn on devices It does not mean that you or me are lazy we just want things to be convenient for us Thanks for the video

Wait before you start with a multitude of devices, I started 3 years ago with 2 Chromecast, 5 wi-fi switches, 3 google home-mini and today nothing works, my devices are configured in 2 languages French and English and all worked well during all this time and now it's hell, my devices confuse the 2 languages no longer work sometimes in French and other times in English, no longer able to turn on neither my televisions, nor my switches, it's the tower of Babel

🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation:brbr00:00 💡 Start with identifying the problems you want to solve in each room before buying devicesbr01:13 🛠️ Focus on automating one room at a time instead of the whole housebr02:50 🔌 Consider smart bulbs, plugs or switches for lighting control based on your needsbr03:49 ⬆️ Smart switches may not work if you rent, smart plugs offer flexibilitybr06:09 🤝 Zigbee, Z-Wave and Matter are protocols for devices communicating through a hub br07:34 📱 Pick devices compatible across platforms to avoid multiple appsbr08:46 🏠 Google, Apple and Amazon have main smart home ecosystems to link devicesbr10:38 🧙‍♂️ Home Assistant consolidates devices and enables complex automationsbr13:16 💡 Research carefully, focus on compatibility and take it one room at a timebrbrMade with HARPA AI

Tremsmom
Great video I learnt a lot from this single installation Could you please recommend or do a video on smart locks that can be controlled with an app? I need one desperately but am only seeing more keyless and fingerprint ones on the market with brand names I don’t know and worrisome reviews that the apps either don’t work or get discontinued on App stores etc i just need to be able to open and close the doors with the app without needing a security panel that operates the automation of the door Thanks
Comment from : Tremsmom

Bradley Thorburn
It’s good to see that you have more than one different branded smart device thats what I struggle to decide with which brand to use and stick with Example do I use more Aqara for sensors and blinds or do I use Eufy sensors with the eufy cameras I’m going to use

Not a big fan of Home Assistant I appreciate the effort of the developers but smart devices are expensive enough and I am not going to pay the monthly fee of Nabu Kasa Of course, it still runs in the local network without subscription of Nabu Kasa but the whole system is not going to link beyond local network My smart home devices are mostly bought 5 years ago I am looking for renewing my smart devices and Matter is coming Probably I will just stick to Matter and Thread Border Router in the future

Dylan Taylor
This is what Home Assistant is for! Gluing all of these standards together Zigbee, Z-Wave, Thread/WiFi for Matter, WiFi, Bluetooth, the cloud, basically regardless of device manufacturer Well worth getting it set up I use Aqara devices with a Zigbee USB stick on my Home Assistant server with zero issues The automation capabilities are unparalleled in even professional installations!
Comment from : Dylan Taylor

Mercury_F12
Since I bought my house I knew I wanted it to be a smart home, i started by putting meross switches for the blinds, a ring dorbell for the entrance, a meross smart dimmer for the leds on the stairway, next i want to put ac on 4 rooms and want to make them smart too, also want to put automatic curtains but the thing that i don’t like is that they need batteries to operate, also want to put a smart garage door controller also from meross Basically what you need (if you don’t want to use home assistant) is that everything needs to be compatible with everything, i chose mostoy meross bc it’s compatible with alexa and homekit and work pretty good

I would have loved to see what devices you had to buy and how to connect them together, could you mention the main products you needed to buy for all of this to work together? Edit: I see a list on your description but what about home assistant, is that an app? or you needed to buy a HUB for this to work?

Sorry but HA starts looking like a scam Strange developers decisions, litterally every update destabilizing system, admins on HA forum playing some shady political games, security questionable integrations Not to mention security in general That is platform for naive tinkerers who don't care about safety, stability and transparency, because after all those years not much changed and seems like it stays that way That is not a platform to to build serious home automation system I'm strongly recommending searching for alternatives090
