It's a really basic "mod") could be better (clean all the remaining of the previous thermal paste or use a better one like the Artic MX6) but the results are amazingbrSo the 2nd point is not all the 3070 have that 2nd "structure" that cool down the mems but a similar process could work if you "shrink the height" of the copper squarebror just use watercooling

I’ve not had thermal issues on my pny rtx 3070 xlr8 epic-x triple fan gpu even running a 4k 60fps video render using the gpu maybe I got lucky with it since my 3050 and 3060 hasn’t had those issues either

That kapton tape is so sloppy Some of it is over the heat transfer surface of the memory you're trying to cool

Shouldn't you be using slightly thinner copper shims since thermal pads compress, and copper does not compress as easily? That being said, could you run Heaven or 3dMark just for another reference?

i tried this method before on 1070ti, it does make vram cooler alot but also make thermal paste dry fast af, and it even hotter than before ! brbest option still thermal pad (at least it stable ), or water cooler

seems to me part of the problem was the memory thermal pads of the ICs not being on on them by about 40etc

A very bad idea to use a non compressible TIM since spacing will vary and someone trying to apply this technique to another model gpu/card
