I threw in the towel after 50 attempts brYou have to memorize every single movement of this boss Every inch he moves, you have to know exactly what animation he is about to do, and memorize the millisecond when you need to deflect each attack "Spamming L1" does not work, and I hate guides that advise this If he attacks with a flurry of strikes, one of them will inevitably hit you unless you know the exact moment each will land You must be aggressive, however if you begin to swing your sword and he does a jump move (which he can do at any time) you will not have time to deflect or dodge Considering the hair-thin margin or error, making 2 or 3 mistakes is the end of the fight Good luck!brI gave up a week ago and my life has been less stressful lol

So I did this fight with the shuriken, completely negating his bow n arrow attack (not the first one) by anytime he jumps away, I'll shuriken n slash If there is no space, his bow n arrow can be canceled by an auto

Another important tip I picked up on is to not have the Demon Bell curse applied during this fight after farming for a while beforehand I spent 3 evenings barely getting to the Tomoe phase and just beat him first time after dispelling Demon Curse

A few more tips:brFirst and Second Phases:br- It's best not to sprint towards Genichiro, since if he decides to use his bow during your sprint you will be f*ckedbr- During his flurry attack, deflect the first two hits and during the small pause Genichiro takes hit him once before continuing to deflect again, and after he finishes the attack spam your attack button until Sekiro lands another hit on himbr- Genichiro may rarely try to step to your side and attempt a perilous grab attack: when this happens, do not hesitate to hit him as soon as he attempts it This will cause him to be thrown back awaybr- Genichiro may sometimes suddebly attempt a thrust attack in the middle of your attacks I recommend deflecting it if you are too closebrbrThird phase:br- Genichiro's flurry attack will always be followed by a thrust, so do not try to hit him after the flurry finishesbr- Sometimes Genichiro will attempt what looks like a sweep attack but is really not (this attack is not marked as perilous) When this happens, try to jump over the attack a bit late as jumping early will cause you great damagebrbrHope this helps :)

One of my favorite fights in the whole game He's not super difficult but the fight always serves as a great warmup when jumping back into the game I recommend firecrackers for this fight as well since he likes to close the gap in phase 2 when you try to heal and they eliminate all the risk

When sekiro said it'll only take a moment, he really meant it since genichiro has moveset that mostly can be parried and only 3 Major attacks out of which 2 can be dealt with with posture damage

You can sneak in a thrust attack after the initial arrow brbrYou can consistently cancel Genichiro’s midair arrow volley and there are better ways of dealing with Floating Passage; not to mention deflecting FP with sword consistently in its entirety is not possible br^ if you wish for elaboration I’d rather do it through DC via footage brbrGenichiro also gains the ability to use an arrow attack after Floating Passage (depending on distance( in the second phase

As a mortal who just beat him after a couple hours (and looking at many tutorials) brbr1 Ichimonji: Double is incredible to regain your posture and take his when he overextends after a big move brbr2 Play with control Don’t spam your buttons Try to match the rhythm of the game brbr3 If he runs straight at you, just a regular attack in his face stops him, but be ready if he stops to shoot an arrow That’s why you don’t spam buttons, so you can cancel your attack to block

Genichiro is an amazing boss He really tests your parry skill While fighting him for 2 days, I finally understood the combos and rhythm concept of Sekiro and the rest was easierbrbrHe is the MVP This fight made the game enjoyable to me, my true tutorial

Thrust and sweep aren't exclusive to phase 1 and 2 While it's rarer, he can sweep In phase 1 and thrust in phase 2

When he jump to shoot arrows, it’s better to think of it not as 4 deflects but more as 3 and 1, in terms of rhythm

That second phase does not do the sweep attack for me He still does the thrust and the sweep So i can't tell when to jump or mikiri counter I cant get passed 2nd phase

Good guide, only thing is in phase 2 usually he will do the sweep as in the video but rarely he will still use his thurst attack from phase 1brbrStart of phase 3 you can just use 1 buff eg sugar or heal and still have time for the mikiri counterbr A slashing sword hit can prevent his phase 3 running around into a sweep attack if you want more vit dmg over jump counter posture Also the case for the mortal blade variantbrbrbrMist Raven has more generous timing for lighting reserves and prevents chip dmg useful if you have bad timing against lighting or are on very low hp
