If you plan on going to Norway, the advice you get in this video wouldn't be particularly useful, you would just stand out in a different way that is probably worse way worse than what you started out withbrbrWhen it comes to dressing advice for Europe in general I think it's a huge mistake to make those generalisations Because most European countries have pretty different cultures from each other when it comes to these things and even within a country these things vary a lot The cultural differences are huge across Europe Comment from : @charlottestormie2739 |

Tips: lower your voice, including your laugh Act more reserve, keep a respectful distance to strangers, and 2 critical items that can dress up jeans or any type of dress is: muted single color blazers and scarves Use the scarves for a splash of color And they are easy to pack Comment from : @jennifera6631 |

I'm gonna say thisI took these kinds of videos about what to wear to heart But the truth is totally different Went to Vienna and was advised that the people there were so stylish that to fit in I better be too Don't dress like an American in good looking running or gym attire so as not to stand out WRONGso many locals running on the street walking all wearing stylish work out atire All wearing Nike and common brand tennis and running shoes If I dressed for running like here at homecomfortable I would have fit in perfect A tipGermany Vienna I'm sure most of Europe are totally into fitness Be respectful in churches especially Italy for short dresses shoulders showing ect Usually posted Other wise be comfortable maybe join the locals in health atire Comment from : @kevinquinn2160 |

I wish you had demonstrated a way to carry things for sightseeing day trips Showing what not to use (backpack, fanny pack) is great, but I have no idea from your video of what an acceptable alternative would be Please show, not just talk Comment from : @GoogleUser-qz5zv |

There's another thing to mention is that some places to visit, specially churches, do not accept too much skin exposition; sometimes shoulders must be covered in order to be allowed in such sites Comment from : @glauroojunior83 |

When I see someone having a big coffee au lait or cappuccino you know it’s a tourist Europeans only drink that in the morning with breakfast ( like with a croissant) They drink a small espresso in the afternoon and evening And only Americans take out their vanilla coffee mate to put in their coffee or insist on Starbucks so they can have their big desserty rich coffees in a big mug Comment from : @susanehrlich9292 |

Most of this can be used for a short vacation If you go on a longer trip you need comfortable clothes that can be washed and dries up quickly People won't even look at you, they are tourists too brAlso, if you go in colder weather you need a jacket for warmth and not for looks brWe'll be in a 7 weeks vacation through Italy, Morocco, and Turkey Different places with different weather in Nov and Dec Comment from : @yolacintia |

Great tips here and I love reading the comments American lady here over 65 traveling to both Britain and Europe (London, Italy, Switzerland and France) next year with my equally “mature” sister Safety is paramount for us as we are leaving the guys at home this time When I’ve traveled solo to Europe years ago, fitting in as a “local” was very important for safety as well as not being “upcharged” when shopping if they knew I was American I normally traveled in the winter so wore a long trench coat along with European shoes, wore a hat to cover my dyed hair and left most jewelry at home I did practice a few phrases which assisted in getting help from locals if I needed information I was fortunate enough to make several trips over both with groups and solo My very first trip over was to London (I’d never been out of the US at this point) and I was traveling with friends that had also never traveled before Riding on the underground the four of us were chatting away, laughing and having a grand time not realizing how we were about the only people having fun A couple across from us were smiling and asked, “American?” we said yes They told us we were easy to spot and they were a bit envious as they too wish they could have as much fun while out and about the way we did I’ll never forget that At this point in my life, and with my sweet sister, the goal is to be both comfortable, appropriately dressed for touring churches/museums and yet stylish We’re planning on 3 weeks with only a carryon So, black slacks, stylish jeans, comfy booties, sneakers, dress and tops along with a jacket is basically our plan Most fabrics (except the jeans) we can wash in a sink and will dry quickly (This trip will be in May of next year) Throw a scarf in to mix up the look and ta-da Good to go Thank you again for your video It’s about the most complete source of information I’ve seen in a long time Comment from : @debralind9062 |

I was just in three countries and I hate to debunk but I heard and saw tourists from all over the world who dress like the "American tourist look" Everyone( tourist) wears backpacks, activewear and backpacks, and sneakers, not just Americans anymore Comment from : @bethguerrera6715 |
Europe is a continent with many different countries that have very different ideas of what to do and what not Norway, we are an "active" and outdoorsy country I think we will notice a person from America with the behaviour more than the clothes when you come to more south, the people are more like youTalkative, loud and touchy 🙂 We are all different, but not good to flash with all you got in any country Comment from : @monicavonr9029 |
Why people wants to look European if you are not? You go the for tourism not for blending on anything Comment from : @alexandraagger7843 |

In Jerusalem you definitely can wear flip flops and leggings with a cross body bag, to blend in Comment from : @katherinyammginzburg2015 |

As an American that traveled in Europe, I have been asked "why are American women so loud when they get excited jumpy, screechy, obnoxiously jumping up and down loud" My answer was, "we all don't do that, but we are portrayed that way on Sitcoms and TV" However, as Americans, we are generally too loud, drives me crazy too!! haha Comment from : @belindabackstrom760 |
I am English, I can say the Turkish shopkeepers speak many languages & will look straight at your shoes before speaking to you!! Comment from : @emmsue1053 |

In Europe, loud branding is often regarded as tacky, and desperation to show money Comment from : @Thingybob |
It always makes me laugh to see British men in an airplane going on holidays dressed as if they were about to start a football game, and yet, see footballers in an airplane dressed in a suit Comment from : @Thingybob |
Europe is very diverse, but I feel that southern europeans still dress depending on the place and activity more than other countries For example, flip flops at the beach and swimming pool, leggings, gym clothes and performance trainers for when doing exercise, wellies are only worn when it rains, trainers with tennis sole or designer trainers are very common in the city, rucksacks are for hiking, heels for the evening brSporty clothes are not synonym of casual clothes Casual, simply means more comfortable and less delicate Things are changing very fast, the rules are dissapearing and I wonder if in 5 or 10 years this difference will be noticeable Comment from : @Thingybob |
Oh my gracious! We are going on a European trip in the fall for three weeks The 'Chloe'' sneakers you suggested are $795 USD That's not as affordable as you may think for regular Americans 😳 Comment from : @tamikorodriguez797 |
The tips list and links in the description are very handy Those Chloe sneakers are super cute and made me look 😉 I have to chuckle however, at $400 price tag 🤭😅 Comment from : @patriciagabarra7039 |
I’m European (Spain and France) and agree on no athletics/leggings/flip flops for street wear and tone down hair/makeup/nails to natural (more done up is more for special events) Enjoy your travels!! 💕 Comment from : @patriciagabarra7039 |
It is strange you want to look like europeans I think you can blend in if you ditch gym gear The tips were good for Southern Europe If you visit Iceland, Norway or Finland it might be ok to have a warm sports jacket just in case The make up is a thing, Europeans do not do the contours as much as the Kardashians You might want to look at the European Royal families, that is a way you can do a full make up and stand out in a positive way Sunglasses, sunscreen and red lips are sometimes the best option Sometimes it is the behavior: you need to compare fashion vlogists from the USA and Europe: Europeans speak softer I know Spanish, Italians an Greek are loud when they are emotional but that is an other story Comment from : @bettyhappschatt3467 |

Just watched this ti make me laugh as I just had a holiday in south of France American tourists was nit what they wore but their manners and they are so loud brbrThat is ok,most of them are very kind and respectful Which the main main thing brbrI live in UK and heard people say that your style is very much USA brbrPersonally this video is aimed at the Mediterranean Europe When you are in Northern Europe you have ti be practical with walking boots, backpacks and etc the weather can change brbrWhen I was in south of France I felt a little out of place as everyone was wearing white clothes as it was the thing ti wear in St Tropez My daughter and I laughed the whole time brbrMy parents are from India and any hot place it’s nice ti wear colour and beautiful flowing dresses Nice be sun hats and looking chic Which is what I did when I was on holiday brbrI did take active wear but to use for my gym workout at the hotel Have fun and enjoy fashion and be yourself ❤ Comment from : @shilpamistry-patel6735 |

When I first moved to the States, I used to think mostly everyone went to the gym everyday, only to discover that gym clothes were a trendy outfit there! I always found it so tacky Comment from : @marichumartija5933 |
As a European, I agree with you, you are spot on I see some European commenters squirm a litle and claim we are all different cultures bla bla But we really aren't, we generally dress the same from Norway to Italy The key is to tone it down, both in clothes and voice Generally, when in public: Grown men in Europe do not wear baseball caps (or any hats in general), and no shorts, printed T-shirts, or hiking gear Women do not wear gym wear, leggings, big sneakers, super colourful clothes, windbreakers/fleece jackets, heels, naked shoulders or golf hats/sun shades Men here will wear long pants and a buttoned shirt or one-colour t-shirt, and women will wear pants or a dress with one-coloured tennis shoes or Birkenstock sandals And no flip flops or fanny packs! Shoes, sandals and bags/purses will generally be leather So tone it down and embrace looking a bit more classy ;) Comment from : @TheRealFeechLaManna |
Easy, speak a little less loud I don’t recognise American by clothing but by the way they talk, loud and opinionated Comment from : @user-oz5de6wg9c |
