One thing to note is that many coins and rounds I've tested with a sigma pro tested within 9999 green zone I think 999 is just guaranteed minimum fineness

I admire the transparency of the US Mint, I with the Austrians would disclose as well I haven't begun stacking but I am leaning towards Philharmonics and Swiss/German/British bars

It only matters to the dealer when they're selling to you otherwise when they're buying from you it doesn't matter and they wont pay more, bit of a scam if you ask me

Thank you SD for this post, great explanation and examples While I hear that you feel it's gimmicky, four nines does speak to the quality control freak in metells me that the mint wants the product as pure as possible for the best overall product Of course the businessman in me says they do it to reduce costs (Your scales actually proved my point; the higher the quality, less material per coin/product required to meet weight standardmaybe that's why Eagles weigh more than Maples) 8)

You are wrong, they don't contain any "pure silver" They have 1 oz net silver in an alloy Use the correct terminology

If you need it to make medical grade colloidal silver, you need pure 4 9s fine And it makes sense to want the purest just in case a scenario like that played out and you're siting on all 3 9s

I have an app that keeps track of my precious metals and I have noticed with the gold Eagles let's go with the tenth ounce cuz I remember the weights if you put in 31 G of 24 karat gold vs 34 G of 22 karat gold both have the exact same amount of gold the 22 karat is usually a dollar or two more in value in my portfolio 🤔 just a weird observation kind of hard to explain

So according tobryour tests three 9's or four 9's doesn't really make a difference but try telling that to a coin dealer when you need to resell them for cash and the dealer refuses to give fair value because it's not pure enough!

In my country I get approx 15 cent more pr gram for the 9999 (very close to spot price) I was told it was because it costs money to refine 999 to the higher purity, so they pay less for this purity

A question I have had for a few years now is why don't companies use 24k to mark gold coins or Sterling for silver? I'm not sure Sterling is pure silver though and just used for Silverware

I wish you would do a video on the degrading quality of the strike on ASE type 2 coins You can see the quality slipping in the details, compare Liberty's cap and face, compare the stars on the banner, and on and on What is happening at the mint? Just look at the far superior strike quality of the ASE type 1 It would be a great video! ASE type 2 are definitely OFF my list
