Hey guys so UPDATE! As of Jan 25 2019 the Greek Parliament voted 153-146 (1 abstained) in favor of accepting the new name of "North Macedonia" for this country Many Greek citizens are opposed to this move but for what's it's worth this means diplomatic actions can move forward after nearly 3 decades of dispute Let's see what happens

As he mentioned, FYROM people have many similarities with Bulgarians and they moved to this location much later than the era of Alexander the Great The main area of Alexander the Great is about 3/4 Greece and 1/4 FYROM Alexander the Great spoke Greek brIt is clear that FYROM people do not have any ancestry to Alexander the Great, not one gene The Greek people do have at least some genes from Alexander the Great and the Ancient Greeks People may argue that in all those years there would be some mixing of the people in the Balkans I do agree but the mixing is much less than you would expect because people of that time would prefer to marry someone from the same village or neighboring village for land heritage and economic reasons In any case there was not much migration in those days brFormer Yugoslavia with Tito wanted to punish the Greeks for not completely cooperating and named that part of former Yugoslavia Macedonia area In recent years, suddenly FYROM wanted to claim Alexander the Great by using the name Macedonia The problem Greece has is not the name but that FYROM can later claim to take or “unite” with the area in Greece called Macedonia brIt is a pity that Europe and mostly USA does not care to investigate historically these things and accepted and encouraged the name Macedonia for FYROM long before the dispute became critical The purpose of Europe and USA should be to help the Balkans resolve all issues based on unbiased history
