The average patient barely knows their doctor unless they’re in a simple practice like internal medicine, family practice, or pediatrics How many people that have had surgery have actually talked to their surgeons or anesthesiologists for more than a minute at a time?

Pathology: good compensation (especially relative to number of hours worked), diversity of knowledge, get to sit down and drink coffee/tea, very little call duties, and are absolutely needed to make a diagnosis so that clinicians/surgeons can complete their jobs appropriately Also, very nice culture, don’t have a lot of insurance company interactions, and none of the headaches of dealing with “certain patients”…a hidden medical specialty that people are missing out on
