Just wish they had the detachable Mag one in that green Comment from : Suburban Hermit |
Not much difference to make a difference in my opinion Comment from : Me First |
would it get any better if you bedded just the recoil lug? Comment from : toprjf739 |
been shooting 5 MOA groups with 168 SMK reloads with the factory stock Comment from : Mark Vanderbeek |
how heavy is that full bed stock? Comment from : adaleparker1956 |
Just learning this stuff at gunsmithing school Block bedding Comment from : RBT |
What is the appropriate size Hex T-Key Allen wrench for the job ???? Comment from : Gary V |
I just purchased the replacement stock to put onto my Remington 700 SPS tactical 308 Winchester 20” heavy barrel Out of curiosity is this a very simple installation and easy swap out ???????????? Comment from : Gary V |
Out of Curiosity when you tighten down your Bipod does it end up making the front end of the stock press directly into the barrel ? That was my issue with the factory Hogue stock Comment from : Gary V |
Ur shots all look pretty much the samei don't think it's the stock or rifle Mayb the finger?? Or ammo Comment from : Manny Gunzz |
Dude is preaching about accuracy with extra extra high scope rings while shooting off a bipod Comment from : Rig Hand |
I hate this rifle even after changing to a full bed block my groups are terrible and not to brag but I’m a great shot This gun is so inconsistent Comment from : Chasing RodBenders |
That scope is mounted a little too high, don't you think? I can't see how you're getting a good cheek weld Maybe you might try a stock with an adjustable comb or use standard base and rings to bring the scope down about an inch or so Comment from : DPS |
I just got one identical to yours will the 20 inch barrel threaded I'm mounting a kahles scope 3 by 9 by 40 that I currently already had on a picatinny rail Using a 0 moa rail What do you think about the vortex viper scope in 5 by 20 by 50 on this weapon? Comment from : Thomas Harmon |
Awesome! I'm now leaving to go pick up the rem 700 sps and swap the stocks!!! I had no idea this upgraded stock existed! Comment from : Pippinm7 |
Could you send the link for the stock it no longer works Comment from : Chasing RodBenders |
I have a Savage short action in 308 with a standard stock and thinking of upgrading to the full aluminum bed stock do you think it would help with felt recoil? Also how is the recoil pad on the stocks? Comment from : Firearm Convention |
Brownells has these for $186 now Comment from : MattC0621 |
If he had used 150gr bullets he would gotten better groups the SPS is rifled at 1:12 this is important Comment from : Sf Pawloski |
I've been thinking about these stocks for 2 of my rifles (REM 700 in 270 & Mauser 98k) I appreciate the thorough and unbiased review Now to decide which project to start first Comment from : Steve Fox |
Does that stock work with the standard sps with a 24 or 26 inch barrel? Comment from : kristin may |
My SPS tactical also seems to like the 168 grain Sierra match king bullets I've tried quite a few different rounds, including the Hornady 168 grain A-Max, but this rifle just seems to like the 168 grain Sierra HPBT rounds like Federal Gold Medal Match One question; after looking at Hogues' website it looks like all their full bed stocks only sport a single forward sling mount Meaning that if I change my current stock, I'll lose one mount there (mine has two, one for a sling and one for a bipod) I don't see any with two forward sling numbs Did you lose one when you swapped out yours? Comment from : rogue109 |
Great vid Mr Sootch Nice rifle Comment from : arcflashed |
Can you do a zev fulcrum trigger vs pyramid trigger for glock comparison? Comment from : yandri arce |
I have a 700 SPS Tactical 20" barrel 308, with the the pillar bedded hogue stock, and its a fantastic shooter! I have over 2,500 rounds through it, and I have never had it fail to strip a round! I will say that yours seems to eject the brass a bit better/more consistent than mine For anyone who has the pillar bedded stock and does not want to pay $300 for a fully alum bedded version: try shimming the front of the action just a bit with small aluminum shims from a coke can, it works great, and keeps the stock from contacting the barrel when rested on a bipod My SPS shoots consistent 1/4" groups at 100yds and holds 1/2 MOA out to 600yds (as far as my range goes) I love the feel of the Hogue overmolded stock, but for $300 there are a bunch of other great options out there HS Precision, Bell & Carlson The feel of the overmold is amazing in the hand though! Comment from : Rob Simmons |
I got a triad tactical stock pad for the cheek riser This worked well as a temporary solution and for the price is good to have around for other rifles, but if you are going to keep the stock I would look into a bolt on, adjustable cheek piece like the Karsten or Tac Pro You have to drill holes in your stock, but they are $40-$60 and are actually nice, as opposed to just working Comment from : Gun Sense (drmaudio) |
Now it's time for bottom metal upgrade so you can use AI mags! Comment from : N8Love80 |
those groupings would be great for a neck shot even if they missed by ever so little the energy from the impact would shock enough to still put down a deer saving rib meat for a nice bbq or smoking Comment from : dale myers |
do these stocks come made for the timney trigger safety in mind? by have a push out or knock out plastic block as with a mosin, you have to make allowances in the wood stocks by cutting/notching a portion of the stock Comment from : dale myers |
Your Soochness, I am confused you have a series of videos coming out at the same time This one a 'deer rifle'; and a Remington 308 in a modular stock that looks like a bad ass sniper rifle Is this the same gun? Did your momma allow you to buy two? Does she have a single, good looking, sister that loves TEXAS? Comment from : Shamrock Rancher |
your scope mount is atrociously high I dont see how you are getting a proper cheek weld on the rifle Why not use lower rings and some padding to build up the stock for a proper weld?br Comment from : AppalachianGunSlinger |
very nice man,how much did it it cost all in,with all the upgrades? Comment from : chris bullis |
My dad has a 770, and it has the same problem stripping rounds out of the mag Ive found that you have to make sure the rounds are all the way back against the inside of the mag, it seems to help a bit But thats definitely something they should look at, ive never had another BAR do that to me Comment from : Luxorcist |
Sub MOA gun out of the boxafter I put the XLR element chassis on, I get sub 3/4 MOA and I'm still new to long range shootingI'm sure you'd get sub 1/2 MOA with it Sootchreally is a nice chassis systemI do like the bedded hogue though, nice stuff! Great vid, can't wait to hear about the scope, I've been wanting one Primary arms are a great dealer Comment from : KillerCams101 |
14:19 We can tell you really like this stock Comment from : joshv06 |
I have this exact rifle After I called about replacing the trigger it took about 1 month for the box to arrive to ship it I think it was supposed to be a 6 week turnaround after mailing the rifle, but It was back in my hand about 1 1/2 weeks later Not bad Comment from : Matt Wyatt |
Were you able to test with the premium ammo or muzzle break before you switched stocks? Comment from : wpherigo1 |
Why not use a Sinclair rest and some sand bags both front and rear? I think your groups will improve slightly Comment from : David Andersen |
are you purposely mounting your scope high? Comment from : Tim Yang |
What is the break on that gun? Comment from : mpett2 |
Thanks for another informative review, but please i would prefer less of your crotch in later vids Comment from : Eric Speers |
Is that a 20 MOA rail? Comment from : Vicarium |
Sootch try the dnz one piece scope mount I have the same scope on my savage the scope is about an 1/8 inch from touching the barrel very low and very well made Comment from : ian03xl |
I know this is a off topic question, but for a 308 what kind of muzzle brake would you recommend in terms of "shock and awe"? I have a Ruger American Predator in 308 and was wondering what you found to be the louder muzzle brakes Comment from : Jay Lee |
Nice! Comment from : adaboy4z |
