Re-installing the OS worked for me It freaked me out as it would keep restarting over and over again First Aid didn't do anything It took like 2 hours or so to download and install although my WiFi connection is not bad at all Anyway, finally problem solved

None of your solutions worked for me I had to erase the drive and do a clean install Probably 10 years of files with some dodgy ones My hard drive was healthy, but this issue drove me nuts for a few days when upgrading to Big Sur I had my data saved to Dropbox and external HDD

For anyone that this didn't work for try this Restart hold down option the whole time It will give you an option to choose a hard drive to boot from Choose your local drive not the installer
