THAT'S WHAT I'VE BEEN SAYING FOR FOREVERbrI went to a teenage therapist like a year ago and explained my social anxiety to her, which was already hard for me because I'm basically revealing myself to this stranger without anyone i know and trust to be there with mebrbrAt the end of the first session she tells me "Ok, next time we're gonna put you in a group with similarly anxious people and do challenges together" Like, NEXT TIME THE VERY SECOND TIME I'M IN THERAPY, YOU EXPECT ME TO FACE THE THING I'M IN THERAPY bFOR/b ?????brbrNeedless to say, when I got home I made my mother message the therapist to tell her I won't be attending therapy anymore But damn, why do people assume it's just THAT EASY to "face your fears"???? Good point But I’m hoping that some difficult situations will end up going good or better than I imagine (because so much of it is preemptive anxiety), and it’ll give me confidence to not avoid social situations if the ratio of good to bad is skewed towards good Don’t know if anyone agrees but I believe it could help Comment from : Dan1333 |
