You must be super mistaken about what RAID is you get max performance without any loss of storage capacity if you use RAID 0 you get a boost in performance and some redundancy if you use RAID 5 that's, basically it use RAID 0 increase your gains, and zero of the losses Comment from : Hikari |

Some things you said regarding RAID arrays and sacrificing capacity, are incorrect sir RAID 0, which gives performance increase (striping) does not sacrifice capacity By combining drives in a RAID 0, you are increasing throughput across both drives, and combining their capacity A RAID 1 on the other hand, would sacrifice capacity by needing to mirror the drives in an array Comment from : George Davis |
|
Pretty clear you don't fully understand raid You will loose no space with raid 0 and it's the fastest raid Comment from : BNett21 |

Interesting video, I've got no idea about burst coin, but from what you've said in this video, you probably could have just answered most of these questions with "because this is pretty much a home setup not rack full of servers and fiber channel mass storage solutions", if performance has anything to do with it, yeah large raid setups are going to help and while you are going to loose some capacity, its not going to be half, however, the gain from it will be extremely limited by any kind of home system, even most gaming machines aren't going to be able to deal with the bandwidth required for anything more than maybe 4 hard drivesbrbrvery cool videos though, going to have to look into this whole burstcoin thing now, video has got me curious, thanks for sharing :) Comment from : Kevan |

Great stuff as usual! I have all Seagate externals so far and have been on the lookout for decently priced Toshiba or Lacie but they are not even in the same ballpark, at least not in the US However, when it comes to internal HDDs, the gap seems to be smaller For instance, I found a 4 or 6TB Toshiba 7200rpm for only about 10 more than equivalent capacity Seagate externalbrbrSo, my question would be how much better performance (rewards wise) do you see with your 7200s vs 5400s? Is the plot read speed close to the 33 speed (rpm) difference? Or is it much more nominal than that? Comment from : Jim Greulich |
