Also very important, if your GPU comes with a power cable NEVER use that cable on your PSU as cables must be rated for each PSU and not GPU Usually when buying new GPU it doesnt come with any power cables for this reason but used ones may, throw that cable away

I did use a pig tailed cable for my 7900 XT when I first got it and I think I damaged my PSU by doing this My computer was instantly shutting off needing to power cycle my PSU to get it to work again and also had to power cycle every time I turned my computer on in the morning This really needs to be talked about more

Okay this makes sense as to why my 3080ti stopped working when I haven’t gamed in over a year and only use it for chrome I sent it in last week to evga because it was under warranty I wonder if bedside I did this that it will void the warranty

I got a RM850e and it comes with only 2 PCIE cables (I should've done my research) while my GPU being XFX 7900 XTX needs 3, was wondering in this case would a daisy chain be fine? I currently have a third party PCIE cable but after being warned to not do that, I stopped using my PC all together until I make my next move Any comments would be highly appreciated!

What this means is 'pigtail' cables are effectively useless because they only work correctly on GPUs that unnecessarily have two 8-pin ports

Wish I saw this sooner My rtx 3080 doesn't work anymore The cables melted inside and I replaced the socket with a new one, but the GPU only lasts a few seconds before disconnecting Very annoying £1,000 for a GPU that only lasted me 6 months

If ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY, could you use 2 cables, one without using daisy chain, and one using a daisy chain and its second connection, on a card that has 3x8 pin connections?

I did it with 3060ti that go to 250w and i overclocked it, so i cabged to two cables from one with pigitale and the temprature was down in 4-5°

i have a 3080ftw i just run stock speeds its been so hot this summereven with air on i have to 90 percent fans on heavy gaming to keep it around 70c any less it spikes 77c even with lots of fans and good airflow case and mine has separate cables all 3 to seasonic 850 psu but no problems with the seasonic psu it just keeps working great

I use pigtail cables on my strix 3090 for almost 10 months without a problem so I would guess I should be fine and the strix can pull up to 500w at its peak the clue is buying a good power supply 😆

Tired to find ur Twitter to message you so maybe u can answer it here if you see it I got a evga ftw3 3080ti on the way my psu is a g750h which says it’s compatible the only problems is it only has 2 pcie slots the 3080ti has 3 I know u say run the All separate gigabyte said it can handle it would it be okay to daisy chain one of the 3 ports or do I need to look into buying a new psu?

hmm, I already have to do just this on my current card which is an old MSI GeForce GTX 1080 Ti Gaming X Trio (250w draw), If I just use the one double cable it won't work properly Would like the upgrade but you can't get an 3080 for love of money, you CAN get a 3080ti or 3090, but the very cheapest ones still sets you back over $2000us And there is no way in heck I am gonna fork that much cash

I didn't have to go into bios to enable my ram My current system is an alienware R8, swapped to a corsair vengence 32gb 3200mhz and my speed was already enabled when I opened my comp My alienware command center, and task manager said it's already at max speed, so I was okay lol

Yep, I won a 3080 Extreme (3x 8-pins) with Newegg Shuffle and my existing 700w PSU wouldn't even boot with the draw 850W and no pigtails used did the trick

I had a pigtail cable in for 2 of the three 8-pin ports for a very short time on my 3090 I have no idea how I missed it, but I did end up finding a third PCI-E cable when I was looking for another SATA power cable, so got that sucker routed in there because of a completely different issue For some reason, I just didn't see it during the install, despite having my PSU's cable bag right there
