I reckon the closest thing to a canonical ending is Karma lives, Mason dies, and Menendez is killed This is because:brbr1 In BO3 through an intel log IIRC its revealed that Menendez was killed by David and his followers kinda faded away over time brbr2 Given that the USA still exists and isn't in ruin it can also be theorised that Karma was able to crack the celerium worm due to her needing to be alive to do so This could also explain why Menendez's followers faded away toobrbr3 As for Mason, it's easily the most debatable I believe he died because of just how reckless Woods was overall Even with all of the hints (CIA documents, Kravchenko, etc) he still wouldve likely tried to kill Mason in a blind rage just like Menendez, especially with Hudson egging him on However, if Treyarch were to reveal what happened I'd expect them to go with him surviving to open up more doors for the narrative and all that to make money off of (eg a campaign that shows what Alex got up to from 1989 to 2025) Comment from : Chappo
