Common if your going to include the defacing law warning at least read it brDefacing is fraudulently changing the value of the coin so its worth MORE like gold plating it and selling it for $5, or changing the P to a D mark things like that bror changing the $1 note to a $10, or $100 note That is fraudulent defacement or making the money worthless like sanding a face off and using it as currency brbrit does not mention anything about taking mint out of circulation only changing it for intent of monetary gain brbrthanks for the video regardless Comment from : DarkShadowsX5 |

Excellent tutorial, One little advice, add acid to the water, Never add water to the Acid because heat will be released and the solution may boil very violently, splashing concentrated acid out of the container Comment from : Paul Aleksinko |

Under a hood, place 10-15 ml conc HNO3 in a 50 ml beaker Place a penny in the beaker for app 70 sec At this time, zap the coin with a shot of di H2O to stop the reaction Retrieve the penny It will be the thickness, weight and diameter of a dime Our college vending machines were full of penniesuntil my Chem Prof caught wind of the unauthorized "experimentation" through the grapevine, I supposeI don't condone the action of turning pennies into dimesI'm sure this will dissuade any illegal activity should you think of trying this (let me know how things transpire) remember, use a hoodthe gas given off will kill youthat's NO SHIT!!! Could an Aerator be used in place of the Peroxide? Comment from : Andrew B |

While it is illegal in the US to deface coins, that doesn’t really apply here That law I think, is referencing making a coin more valuable than it actually is (pressing a nickel into a quarter), so you should be fine Comment from : SciGuy |

Hi you chemistry brainiacs I have been experimenting nickel plating copper My first results were fairly fast although it was pretty rough considering how smooth the copper into the bath for the test I was wondering if any of you know if different electrolytes do finer grain plating ? I used nickel acetate I started out at 8 v@ 200 maI slowly ramped the voltage and after 3 hrs I turned off, ending current was 15 V @ 1 ampWill also try lower voltages/currents and longer plating runs TNX, KM6OR Comment from : Darlene Edwards |
