I’m transitioning all my orchids to sphagnum, including some summer blooming Phals Do you mind telling me how you water yours in sphagnum? (How do you determine when you will water, does the moss dry out all the way into the pot completely before you water, or do you just let the top layer dry out, how often do you end up watering, etc) I’m asking because yours are doing great Thanks! This is the video I have been looking for Most Youtubers have hauls showing the orchids they got from a nursery But nobody shows you how their orchids have performed after 6 months or a year That's what i have wondered about If I buy from this vendor, how fast do they grow/bloom If you have cattleya orchids from sunset Valley Orchids, I would love to watch the same type of video Thank you! (ah, there it was at the end of the video)brWith the Zygo, transitioning them to leca s/h is really risky, especially at that size (I would say it is still at least a year from blooming) I would keep it in moss for now, but definitely use a deeper pot, they can develop quite extensive root systems If you are going to repot, best time to do it is when new growths are pushing up but before the first leaf opens (before new roots begin), the roots are iextremely/i sensitive and prone to damage and damaged roots will often just die The yellowing leaf can be caused by several things, it is a bit early for it to be dropping leaves from that growth, so you will have to play around to find out The first two, most likely, culprits are too much feed or not enough feed Run some water through the pot, collect some of the runoff and check the TDS and pH of it If the TDS is over 300, flush heavily If the pH is 55 or less, change out the moss or dissolve some garden lime in water and pour through to raise the pH (the lime being a band aid until a better time to repot)brLess likely is the plant being too cool and too wet or too warm and too dry Comment from : @michaelmccarthy4077 |

I live a couple of hours away from Orchids by Hausermann, and shopping in their greenhouses are an experience to be coveted dearly I’ve never been to an “orchid warehouse” with the specialty of orchids I bought several Cattleya’s and they are all in bloom I also bought some younger 2” orchids in the smaller pots and have transplanted them as well I also, repotted in transparent plastic pots and watching the roots growing so vigorously have been amazing If you get the chance to visit, be prepared to walk out with more than you anticipated It’s simply irresistible and for me, impossible to return home with at least three 8” or 10” pots Comment from : @somethingaboutmary68 |
