If we want to describe a project owner or product owner in action, it's related to the team and product and project are working on but if we want to describe product roles as the book you said the best phrases

Love an 'accidental product manager' I feel the same - I got into product management as product management came into 'existence' as a formal discipline, even though I was doing it since I started my career I find a clear definition elusive as many large companies are retrofitting product management as a discipline into an existing organization And responsibilities are adapted to fit the company's existing model Product managers do what's needed to get a product to market And the work to get a product into the hands of customers can vary by organization

I manage our PLM software I am a Mechanical Engineer doing industrial design and documentation, releasing data to our PLM system and working with manufacturing / suppliers while managing revisions and the lifecycle of existing products Not sure what my title should be Currently just Mechanical Engineer haha

Product Management's the most overrated, overvalued and overpaid job in the world It literally takes 0 skills to become a PM Have you ever heard someone say "Wow, that product manager's SO inspiring :D" Nope Never Us engineers HATE PMs because all they do's dish out Jira tickets and expect them done in a specified amount of time while they browse Reddit until the job's done that THEY get the credit for because they "had the vision" So what's there to be inspired about? brbrThe "A LOT of meetings" nonsense's all smoke & mirrors so it seems like they're working hard when in reality - they're hardly working OR they're working on frivolous garbage to make it look they're so critical to a tech team when in reality they aren't needed at all brbr95 of them are extremely bossy and are responsible for engineers losing their jobs solely because they feel they aren't a "culture fit" or they're not "up to par" Also, if you think about it - PMs have a 100 chance to make NO errors Why? Because they don't create anything, break anything, improve anything Us engineers do all of the work The blood, sweat and tears we shed on the daily pales in comparison to the day-to-day garbage PMs do The fact that they earn as much as engineers do is a spit on the face to the folks (engineers) who do the real work brbrAlso, I'm not talking out of my rear end I'm an engineer that's been in startups from seed funding days all the way to acquisition I know VERY WELL how PMs operate and from my experience- they're a nuisance to engineers and are a MAJOR reason why startups go under My current dev shop has no PMs and we're THRIVING Nobody breathes down our necks We just get it done and iterate on our own discretion THIS is true software developmentbrbrGo ahead and destroy me in the comments I'm looking forward to the salty replies from PMs disagreeing with the truth being thrown at their face like it never has before in the from a YouTube comment
