I could not get the part of your dad, was he a doctor in Russia ? Or he came to fhe US and newly started studying medicine in his 40th age? Please may you clarify, i am 40th and i am coming to the US soon, yet, i will try my best to get in the med school later on, it is my dream, but do not know, i am not negative , but the age makes me a bit !

In high school, I was sure I was going to be a doctor That was until thr Red Cross came to our gym for a blood donor clinic When I saw the blood I passed out My teacher laughed at me and told me that I can never be a doctor and I should rethink my career goalsbrI was devastate brYears later I told that story to my partner who is a doctor and he told me that most people are sensitive to blood, bodies etc You just get used to it brI missed my chance because I believed that teacher 😔 brThis was 30 years ago btw Most women weren't going thinking about medical school at that time

The reason why I want to pursue medicine I’m 18 doing online since I was held back twice due to being in and out of the hospital a lot during 3rd and 4th grade(not my fault) I want to pursue this field because I’ve been a patient who has a lot of medical issues due to a genetic disease (MSUD)with a transplant of the liver a full one And I specifically want to go into pediatrics because I can relate to the kids I know what they go through especially ones with abdominal issues and I want to be able to help those kids comfort them make it easier to save their life whether it’s by being a surgeon or a regular doctor Either way I want to help kids in someway shape or form

I know I want to be a doctor for all the reasons you mentioned, but I'm still SCARED We, here in Pakistan, go to med school directly after highschool and the thought of putting in so much effort excites and motivates me But it's scary at the same time because what if my brain fails me and I end up disappointing myself?

I love that you talk about watching the lectures at a 15 or 20 accelerated speed because I do the same thing LOL… brI’m in the process of applying to post-bac pre-medical programs My pathway to medicine is slightly different, and I’m looking for inspiration/motivation for my applications I will graduate this May with my BA in Public Admin, with concentrations in Healthcare Admin and Community Health I, too, will finish my undergraduate in three years After gaining experience on the administrative side, I realized my heart longed to be hands-on and more clinical I decided to become a CNA to see if I’d enjoy patient interactions, and I fell in love with it With the required clinical experience as a NA, I enjoyed making a difference and impacting the residents' overall care for the day From that moment on, I knew that I wanted to pursue a career in medicine Seeing how you were able to go through the medical process at a young age is motivating I feel that sometimes age can be a disadvantage, but I’m genuinely excited to apply and continue my journey in medicine Thank you for your insight!

I wish doctors were as passionate about their jobs as you seem to be I’ve watched my parents deal with the worst and most jaded medical professionals over the years As of late, my father is going through heart failure and just seeing how some of the younger doctors seem more knowledgeable but also just more compassionate about his condition Others (mostly older doctors) look at my dad like just another number, basically an expiration date I’m really hoping the newer generation of doctors and medical professionals are going to take their job’s more seriously I feel like it’s a career that desperately needs compassionate, extraordinary individuals

I'm a freshman in high school and I really don't know what I want to be, but the idea of being a doctor and learning about medicine has fascinated me brbrI don't really have a deep-rooted story about how someone I know was a doctor, but we did a unit in 7th about diagnosing a girl who had a sickness It was easily the most fun and the most interested I've ever been in a class We haven't done anything like that since and I've asked my physical science if we will do anything like that Nothing this semester, but I want to take more science classes in the future to figure out if it's something I'd like to pursue!

I'm a first year x-ray student at 26 and a lot of what is true here for med school is the same for x-ray Especially the part about really wanting it and knowing why you're there It's definitely not easy, especially when you have to work to support yourself while going to school and clinic If your heart isn't there during those times, you will fail, no doubt Also, we have a gunner in our class Bet she's gone next semester, two tops
