If it is true that in 2018 406 of applicants were accepted, a perhaps easier way to convey your message is to say that, of all the accepted applicants, 542 came from the biological sciences, 172 from other, 113 from physical sciences, 99 from social sciences, 37 from the humanities, 30 from specialized health sciences, and only 07 from math and statistics

Honestly, even if he said humanities is the best choice, I would still choose bio because it's my favorite subject I can't imagine myself writing long essays that are subjective and going over subjects like anthropology and history I think it really comes down to passion and dedication

I’m a senior in high school and I’ve been wanting to go to bed school for a few years now The only problem is I have no clue what to study I enjoy chemistry so I thought maybe chemistry, but I was also thinking of neuroscience I don’t want to end up taking something like chemistry and having it be too hard and affecting my gpa for med school

I came into college as a jazz sax performance major taking pre reqs, and I switched to bio minoring in jazz instead mostly cuz I found biology much more interesting than jazz and it was easier to get the pre reqs done I also didn’t have to give up my love for music So ya just study what you enjoy

Personally I think I have the best of both worlds I’m a health sciences major at a liberal arts school So I take upper level biology, anatomy and Phys, and alll the other science courses But I also take healthcare management, classes about our healthcare system and intensive writing courses like healthcare ethics

I’m a 1st year medical student at UTSW I’m also a nurse with a decade of healthcare experience including pediatric ICU and flight nursing I never planned on going to med school when I graduated high school This was a career change for me I’m curious to know what percentage of health profession majors are non-trad students and if that is why there is a such a difference in the admission numbers I think your interpretation of the numbers makes the assumption that health profession majors WANT to be doctors For me, that was not true

Actually, a chemistry major is also a (more) streamlined path to medical school In fact, the pre-reqs for med school (gen chem, o-chem, physics, and biochem) are all part of the chemistry major I claim that chemistry is a better degree for entry into med school In fact, our pre-med program (@ Nicholls State) includes a string of good biology courses to help equip our aspiring med school students (anatomy, histology, cell, etc) If you want to attend medical school, you should get a chem degree

You can do just about anything Here in Australia the system is a literally different, but i opted to do my pre-med in chiropractic medicine instead of medicinal science due to the fact that I would like to be an DO rather than an MD

I’m a bioinformatics major it’s under the computer science umbrella I am currently the only pre-med in my CS class and one of two in my major It’s definitely a struggle, but I know if I have to take a gap year or something doesn’t work out with med school I have great well paying jobs as my back up plan

I think I should be okay I have a lot of math classes under my belt I think I need more biology and chemistry though All my classes I took to get my associates is rooted in math and science I was majoring in computer science, but I believe the medical field would give me much more fulfillment Sitting at a desk all day on the computer doesn't seem like something that would be fulfilling for me I'd rather be up moving around working with a team to solve serious problems

Personally, I would definitely recommend Mathematics as a major for applicants, especially if you want to pursue medical research I definitely agree with the video that it can be an uphill battle; however, it can definitely make you shine/unique I was a Math major in undergrad in a university that had a stats track for their math majors With that aside, I would definitely not do anything in the realm of advanced abstract math lol - those are the real geniuses

I’m taking Neuroscience as my major but this video really helps on what major is recommended to take before med school As much I love science…biological science seems like it really helps you more than other majors (not saying it’s the best to take before pre mad) it’s just what you personally feel that can help you Hopefully I get into Pitt and can transfer my credits to that college and take biological science Very helpful video thank you
