Mt Morris is about 40 miles west of me, and at one time I had to be there twice a month It has the most fabulous social service complex I have ever seen, the adaptive reuse and complete rehabilitation of an early 1900s state tuberculosis hospital complex Main Street looks nice, because someone from NYC bought a dozen buildings and propelled them to trendier things Mt Morris (and northern Livingston County) is a 'bedroom' community for high earners as part of the Rochester Metropolitan Area That's what skew the real estate values Nice place, better have money to be there Comment from : @AE1PT |

Low crime is a big plus to most people, 3 pizza shops 2 gas stations, 2 banks , subway , McDonald’s, Dunkin’ Donuts,dollar store,full size grocery,even a Chinese take out- not to mention a high school that looks more like a college—you must have had your eyes closed when you spent a short minute in Mexico N Y it’s a great place to live not to mention that you’re within 12 miles of 3 different Walmart’s — next time spend a couple hours here !! I am very familiar with all of these towns/villages, sadly there are many more that can be added near the top of this list They are all depressed and lack and viable growth Most of the employment opportunities are county and state jobs and the NYS prison system This comes from years of high taxation, political cronyism and lack of state investment Yes, the state has done well in some areas, but most of Upstate, Central, Western, Leatherstocking, Twin Tiers and Southern Tier fare poorly, with the Finger Lakes, Adirondack Region and Niagara Frontier holding their own, but certainly not thriving PS, I want to make a point that my heart is in NYS - This is home - I simply wish I knew how to jump start it without adding more prisons, etc Comment from : @Rixtory |
