LA has mellowed a lot in the past few years it seems No place is THAT dangerous but also no place is THAT safe But yes all the ones mentioned def not a place to spend your vacation Some of them have great food spots though and most people are still nice

I would like to say that the pictures you shown as Leimert Park is not accurate the area that you shown is on Western and Vermont area near King Blv Which is 17-2 miles away and that area is called Western heights please do not give my neighborhood a bad representation; Leimert Park is a historic neighborhood that has always been a middle working class great neighborhood its just that there are nearby neighboring neighborhoods that are not good and Leimert Park often get thrown in with the other neighborhoods as if it is not a great family oriented nice tree lined and well manicured neighborhood Because it might share the same zip code as you know like any other area in Los Angeles their are many pockets that are good and bad Dublin Ave is the last street in Leimert that is considered part of Leimert Park historic area; any street after that is not considered Leimert Park FYI

If LA and parts of other major cities are so dangerous, why did it take until the Supreme Court BRUEN decision (2022) to overturn most restrictive handgun carry laws If Col Jeff Cooper's estimate of criminals in the general population (1 or 2 in 100 are willing to kill or severely harm you) is right, why have legislators for so long wanted to make it hard to arm oneself against the bad guys? Legislators act like at least half of the population is homicidal maniacs, but common sense dictates that if this was true, the murder rate would be as high as it was in the 1960s (VERY high)

I had a Saturday volunteer gig in Leimert Park all through the 1990s Right at Leimert and Crenshaw You touched on the real danger metric: after dark When I finished my work, I'd always hit Phillip's BBQ, which was only a couple of doors away Great place (A break-away brother of the family that owned Woody's BBQ, up the hill) I'm a talker, I always talked to people on the line They were almost all black, which has never been a problem for me On day I was talking to this one fellow about the great restaurants and stores in the area There was a Jamaican restaurant that I liked a lot; Hat City was my favorite hat store "It's pretty cool during the day, but stay away after dark," he said "That's when the wolves come out"

I've heard a lot of bad things about Los Angeles and California in generalfrom the crazy rent prices to the homeless crisis From a distance I have the idea that unlike New York or ChicagoLA is more like a collection of suburbs with very little sense of community everyone is doing their own thing, drive around all day in packed highways and work hard to make ends meet That's kind of sad I heard that the scenery can be gorgeous depending on what part of the city you live in
