As someone from the heartland, I consider In and out burger a bit of a tourist trap They're expanding east already and honestly, their burgers are not worth waiting in line an hour for I only eat at In and out every 2 months Five Guys tastes better

Went to walk of fame and 1 of the street performers tried running up to me and asking to take a picture with them I said No It gets rather annoying with everyone trying to get money in any type of way Also the CD thing is crazy

New York is often compared to LA a lot since so much is filmed in those two cities I have been to New York many times and at regular restaurants and other normal places and came across famous actors when I least expected to At Tick Tock Dinner a 24 hour restaurant part of the hotel called The New Yorker some of the cast of GOTHAM was there They even approached me and one of them (I think had been drinking) and asked if they can sit across from me I did not mind and the lady who played Poison Ivy on the show apologized for her costar and I said it was completely fine I never been to LA so I would imagine it might be similar to New York

I would never assume a star homes tour would include the INSIDE of their homes just the outside LOL I have seen the movies and that is how they did it sometimes the star would be getting the mail or some mundane activity and wave at the tour bus sort of thing that would be cool

I thought Uber was pre paid as in you pay before you get into the car, this is how it is in UK, it doesn't matter how long it takes etc, is it different in LA

Universal Studios/City Walk is a total tourist trap and can get spendy (around $200 each person minimum) Best bet if you want to see a major film/movie studio is sign up for Warner Bros or Paramount Studios tours; way cheaper and more focused on the industry brbrOther good places to visit: brbr* Visit one of the California Spanish-era Missions in the LA area for a good historical perspectivebr* Exposition Park is worth it for the Aerospace Museum, Natural History Museum, and African-American Museum br* Huntington Library and Gardens are greatbr* Chino Air Museum at Chino airport Drive out there if you have a car, great display of working propeller-era aircraft of all sorts Military buffs will love it!br* California Citrus Museum (Not far from Chino Airport) Great history of the LA area's agricultural era My farm-country relatives loved it, never knew the LA area had any agricultural history Visit this first before going to the Air Museum

“Amateur musicians/filmakers” They go and give you a CD “of a music sample or a short film” If you take it, they’ll ask for $20 USD, and they won’t let you go until you give it to thembrEven if you give them the money, out of good will, to “help their careers” do not The CD’s often are empty Real struggling artists probably aren’t giving away their work to tourists

I only go to Venice if a friend from out of town really wants to go But it's not really a fun beach especially when there are so many other beaches to choose Each beach has a unique vibe and style and some are kid friendly and some are party beaches Also check out Orange county beaches especially if you were going to Disneyland because you have a lot of options down south from LA

You were spot on we rented a van and did our outings in sections We did the Lakers game and everything in the area for example Day 2 we did all the beach from Venice to Malibu The Hollywood sign snapped it on the tour and was good Yes you mainly saw their security wall but it was a must to do Lol

I know there is one tourist trap/scam to be careful of and that is the blank cd scam - basically there will be a guy handing out cds near Venice Beach saying that it has all these awesome songs on it but when you buy it off him (and he will charge you a motza for it) take it home and play it, it will be blank Also if you don't accept the cd from the guy he will drop it on the ground and play the guilt game to make you try and pick it up Just another tourist trap/scam I've heard about in LA

Haven't been for years, but there used to be people pushing their CD on the Venice Boardwalk Don't engage The CDs with their music are more often than not blank CDs You arent supporting a musician, you're supporting a scam artist A friend from Orange County fell for this one

You can't drive up to the Hollywood Sign It's surrounded by way too many houses I can tell you it's quite a hike to get there We started out as a group of 37 people and it shrunk to literally seven people It's hard getting up to the sign It's easy to get down from it The sign itself is fenced in so you're unable to touch the letters It was quite a view from the top!

Check the parking restrictions when street parking They can vary on the same street 1 hour max on one stretch and 3 hours on another part just a few feet away

Dont take the CDs those dudes are handing out claiming there is music on them Its 2021 barely anyone uses CDs anymore They’re either gonna have nothing on it or the quality and sound of the music will be really bad Even if u take it and change ur mind they’ll want a tip Just say no Last year my buddy was visiting LA for first time (I’ve been once before) and took a CD and gave it back n all the guys surrounded him n demanded he’d tip them Falling for the pressure, he gave them $ Avoid the dudes handing out CDs!

I’d say don’t go to downtown LA unless you are aware what you are in for 😂 In any other major city downtown is the place to be not there brI’ve traveled a lot and haven’t even seen a place quite like that, it was truly sketchy and just really bizarrebrAlso, In n Out may not be a scam but they need to get over themselves, its incredibly overrated, its a fast food place like any other

There are many great places to visit in the LA area, but parking has always been an issue Street parking is almost non-existent around tourist areas & parking lot fees can be pricey Some residential areas around attractions require a permit to park on city streets posted on signs or the car can be ticketed Ride sharing is better than renting a car but fares can inflate during peak hours The bus system isn't the greatest but offers the cheapest option besides walking "Nobody Walks In LA"
