linux is better for a not new systems? u can tell that to my laptop from 2008 and my problems with gf 8400m with 340 driver on any windows it goes much easyer

I bought 2 new el-cheapo laptops for Xmas 2022 as our old laptops were 10 years old and beginning to fail Both new computers were loaded with windows 11 After stuffing around a few times re-installing windows without connecting to the internet to minimize microsoft intrusion I ended up leaving windows only on one computer while installing a duel boot of windows and linuxmint 212 on the other I have been using linux almost exclusively ever since !brNo crashes, no privacy concerns, no fg problems since day one I love it

Linux is such trash as a desktop I made it almost 2 weeks this time without any major issues and now I'm having to reinstall everything What did I do this time? Apparently with Linux mint doing a pretty standard "sudo apt upgrade" breaks everything and isn't repairable without significant work Once again Linux shows it's only good if you like fixing broken shit

Now that none of my computers "qualify" for win11 looks like when support for win10 finishes I'll be using mint Already dual booting 2 with it and one computer only runs it since it's an older build and already knew my newer ones don't qualify so didn't bother getting a win10 key lolbrEverything just works Even found my brother printer on my network without doing anything

I've just installed Mint on my laptop from Windows and it's made a big difference, no more stuttering when browsing through my files It's more difficult getting things to work the way you want them to with Linux tho

Ubuntu and Mint are as easy to use as Windows I am fairly content with Windows 11 though Until I won't be, than I will switch again By the way, I love Mint and i got to hate Ubuntu at one point (about 10 years ago)

The problem with linux is lack of support from windows side it's crashy buggy etc games crash won't load or just for some reason on some gpu you can't OC them

Mint is fantastic, not just for newbies but I have even become a mint power-user lol You can get tiling window managers, get rid of the menu's and edit the terminal etc It's a great and simple OS for new users and a very powerful OS capable of almost anything any other Linux distro is I like to set all the same keyboard shortcuts in all the distros I use, that way you can smash anything out right from the get go

I've been running Linux Mint on an older Dell Latitude laptop for about 7 years It's stable, secure, and for general use an outstanding OS Once support for Windows 7 ended I've disliked all subsequent Microsoft OS's and prefer the familiarity/Look and Feel that Linux Mint brings to the table Looking forward to obtaining a newer PC soon with better connectivity ports (USB, Ethernet, HDMI, etc) and loading up Mint on that I'm hoping the installer will have no problems recognizing the newer standards, I'll just have to wait and see If anyone has experience and issues in this regard, I'd like to hear from you

i live in the Philippines (at the third world country parts) many Students and businesses here use Linux not by choice but because of survival old broken computers are not thrown away here, they're restored we're grateful for Linux for resurrecting our computers that other countries just throw out 🙏

I do set my own wallpaper and I don't use Bing LOL Although I'm switching to Linux, I don't get the things I hear about windows You can do most basic things on windows the same as Linux, from what I've seen from videos explaining Linux I'm just switching for the safety and more customization But basic things like wallpaper and icons and browsers, are definitely changeable on a windows computer setup
