When you say you need to save money to exercise your leaps - would you not simply sell the contracts instead? How do you make the decision on whether to sell prior to expiry, or to exercise - assuming the contracts are in the money that is? Comment from : Jon Alport |

I’ve been doing this for several years now I started with Amazon and went almost-all in with Tesla in early 2020 I buy close to the money and with expiration 2 years out I sell after a year of holding and repeat only with twice as many contracts because of the profit I made What an amazing ride so far I expect to keep doing this for at least the next 5 years Comment from : Robert Lopez |

I started with options when Tesla was 540 pre-split I bought 1 635 Call option and 1 470 Put option i paid $700 for each one 1400$ total grew to 28k when Tesla ran from 540 to 968 It pulled back into the low 700s and i sold it at expiration for 14k 10x gain in a couple months Leaps are much safer than short term options Nobody was expecting the tech selloff to begin in Feb 2021and last over 2 months Im still holding call options that are down big but dont expire till Sept Tesla will be much higher than it is now in a couple months IMO Comment from : TDA DIY |
