So when a baby laughs during a game of peekaboo it’s not because what you did was funny, it’s because it’s relieved you still exist?
Comment from : abrady0

FJ o
Some people are in the sensonrimotor stage of 'spiritual cognitive development': some "seem to live only in the present; have to see something to know that it exists" They haven't realized that God "exists" though He's out of our sightbrWhat stage are you?😊
Comment from : FJ o

Deborah Lara
Would be lovely to see a video on the post-formal stages of adult development Adult development is a topic that doesn't get talked about much, but I believe has much to offer us Later stages of development include the growth of consciousness, wisdom, virtue, morality, and generativity There is a complexity of mind and of understanding that can only come from decades of building perspective brbrI wish for a society in which we balance the drive and vitality of the young, with the wisdom and grace of the elder In general, elders have life experience that help them become much less self-centered and much more concerned about the well-being of others, as well as of future generations They have much to offer in a culture that overemphasizes achievement, power, and status and underemphasizes sustainability, altruism, harmony, and service to othersbrbrSee theories by Robert Kegan, Susan Cook-Greuter, Jane Loevinger, Clare Graves, Jean Gebser, Michael Commons, Francis Richards, and much of the research coming out of Harvard on Adult Development and Aging!

Tips for everyone about Piaget (I have an exam on this tomorrow so I'm freshly studied up lol)brbr-- the bit about how there have been findings about children understanding some concepts earlier than his tests show (3 month olds) BUT many of these tests were based on either 1) tests based on looking time (baby looks at illogical condition longer, must mean innate understanding of logic) These tests have a lot of holes in them too, assuming that infants innately have abilities as 3 month olds to know basic physics etc Make sure you are aware and do your research on the criticism that he received 2) It has been claimed by psychologists/researchers (such as Baillargeon), that Piaget's tasks were too difficult Tasks became simplified and more kids passed, hence another reason why there's a claim that kids supposedly pass earlier than Piaget said BUT this can be because of procedural decalage, which means that the task at hand isn't properly collecting the information that is desired Like if kids try the conservation of length task with 3 pebbles instead of 5, they may be passing by using different skills not conservation of number that Piaget wanted this task to be testing for Kids could be just counting the stones rather than understanding that they were just stretched out to look like more So reminder to do your research on these topics before assuming that either are right or wrongbrbr--also many criticisms about Piaget regarding his stage theories were just misinterpretations of his theory Stages don't mean like oh once you're in this stage your capabilities are always this way The stages truly just classify what stage a specific thought resides in, not the entire childbrbrPiaget and Vygotsky aren't as different as textbooks portray, as Piaget did have understanding and acknowledged the importance of social interactions in developmentbrbrGood luck on your midterms everyone!! xxbrbr[Info drawn from Carpendale, J, Lewis, C, & Muller, U (2018) The development of children's thinking: Its social and communicative foundations 57-87]
