5 months later and RTX3090 makes 120MH/s @285W (Asus RTX3090 EV Water) and 120MH/s @300W ( Gygabyte Aorus X OC) :), making these actually the best ones, because you can slap 3-4 of those on standard motherboard

Bob Leonard
I still think RX580's and GTX1070's are the best bang per buck

Can I mine ZCASH with rtx 3090

What you guys dont get is this:brWith an RTX 3090 you will get a front seat in the pool Yeah, you can buy cheaper 4 Nvidia cards cards with 10 more hashrate combined BUT before even ONE of those cards find a single spot, to get the the blocks for mining, the RTX 3090 is already running full speed far ahead And my RTX 3090 with max OC mines a ZCOIN with almost 75 Mh/s per second No card comes even close to its performance per watt And its a single card I will wait till morons dump their RXT 3090s for the RTX 3080 Ti or AMD 6900Xt and will buy a second one Because for mining no card comes even close Its so powerful that 2 of them (3400 USD) in SLI almost rival the performance of an ASIC miner that cost at least 3 times as much (5000$ and up) With the same usage in energy So the RTX 3090 is actually a card that is mining rig on itself And you can game with it like with no other card xD
Comment from : Cenko Lino

TORTURE TUESDAY
I would buy the 3080 You will want a card that can mine lots of other algorithms when etherium changes over to proof of stake

I would gladly trade my 9 1080 Ti's for 3 3090's Rig density matters!!! 😉😉😉

Dean Lawson
Nope? In a word no NO! brI'm ALL IN for Team Red and am holding out for the Oct/Nov release of BigNavi from AMD I'm guessing ('cuz nobody really knows anything yet), that BigNavi will crush NVidia for MH/s per watts of power required That's all I care about period SHOW ME THE MONEY!!
Comment from : Dean Lawson

Philippe MAQUIN
Also the efficiency hash/watt is way better with high end gpu If electricity is expensive, it could be the way to go Actually I think that 5700 are the best right now, but I might be wrong (16cent/kwh in my country)
Comment from : Philippe MAQUIN

im Getting a 3080 and 2 more in future because after they are tuned in msi afterburner they will be amazing at minimum 90-100MH/si for one am selling my rx 580s and possibly my 1660tis and swapping to these 3080s
Comment from : Digital Anarchy

Jeff Fasbender
5700's are still a better deal

「 phoenix 」
With the current price range of the new 30 series I would rather go for 8 gb polaris cards or even 5600xt or 5700xt If the rumors are true for big navi having 128 MB cache at a lower price than the rtx 30 series, it might be a better deal
Comment from : 「 phoenix 」

Derp
I've seen 100mh at 250w on the 3080 with a bit of tweeking

Panda, you glossed over Vidulum on what-to-mine!

Box Fan
I think if someone only has one slot and can only have one card, NVidia makes sense It packs the most power in one place, power consumption be damned However, even a modestly proficient GPU miner will have a rig with at least half a dozen PCI slots, or more In this case, AMD makes a lot more sense and most likely will continue the trend with Big Navi People can also be like smart Panda and get some RX580s for like $60 at the right time Or, buy now and pay $200 LOL
Comment from : Box Fan

DEX
Doesn't make sense, we can't even get them in higher quantities All my Radeon VII's have a better hashrate/efficiency at 77 megahash@160-170W compared to the RTX 3000 series And like the guy said, Polaris cards are still good, and the 5700s are also just as good, in fact likely better(in terms of energy usage, with similar combined hashrate and price) 5700s are going for about $330-360 USD right now and their hashrate is around 56-60 megahash @125-130W I'm hoping the older Navi cards will drop in price so that we can pick those up at a better cost
Comment from : DEX

Barrett Lamothe
Probably wait on the 3080s to come back into stock But there is the 20GB variant that is also coming That one might make a HUGE difference in the RAM dependent algos

RX570 at 30 MH and using only 85W is impossible That is probably what the software reads from the wall closer to 110-120 range

Anyone able to help with an issue? I have a fury sapphire (4gb) that is mining really slow Now i have an identical one thats mining just fine It is in compute mode with stock settings and bios It will hash ethereum at around 5-6 m/h topping out at 9 m/h While my good one can hit 32 m/h I have done AMD driver cleaner and with ddu to reinstall the newest drivers I have tried changing the rigs its in along with what i mine It just seems like its stuck in a low speed mode There not running in crossfire as i have tried with just one at a time Any help would be greatly appreciated by anyone thank you!

Big chungus Navi will get over 150mh/s
Comment from : Lawrence Timme

Speed4Fun
I would just get 2x RTX 3080 and make it 160 Hashrate @ 230w x2 for the same cost, you get more hash rate this waybrBut overall, RX580 or 570 is still more efficient brbtw, by looking at whattomine siteits so little profit nownot sure whats going on
Comment from : Speed4Fun

Arsen Julhakyan
man what a heck are you doing? even on specs 3090 is 10-15 more performant than 3080 So forget about 3090, please Stop even mentioning it 3080 is what you should concentrate on and it is a decent deal, however I am looking forward to Big Navi release
Comment from : Arsen Julhakyan

WAZZA225
If you look into the extra power your computer pulls at the wall with each additional card added it can be as much as an extra 40watts per card, so having less cards is more efficient not just including the initial pull of the card, one of my xfx 5700 non xt does 93watts and 54m/h, that verse's my VII which does 193watts and 93m/s, I thought the 5700 was more efficient but after looking at the "at the wall" consumption running each card individually they worked out at about the same with MHash per watts, The new AMDs are meant to be much more efficient on power so that will be interesting to see! also the CDNA cards that will be designed specifically for computing will be interesting too
Comment from : WAZZA225

MrCuCh0
Sorry about those people that still think 500 uses only what the miner shows , been 3 years in crypto and my eyes got open after getting a wall reader
Comment from : MrCuCh0

MrCuCh0
Some of the benchmarks I had seen are 100mhs x 255 watts and is not that great yet if you compare 3 x 1660super is 90mhs for 210 watts , you will save on risers and pcie cables
Comment from : MrCuCh0

Redz
My rx 5700 xt 595mhs 185watt at wall, i can never get my polaris card under 100watt at wall, even with under 30mhs

If you play game and do other productive stuff (daily pc) and only mine on the side it does make sense to buy a RTX 3080 imo

Considering that the RTX3080's will have a decent resell value, I think it is a pretty good card to buy now in 2020 The 3090 on the other hand

BL4D3RUNN3R
Forget the 3080 and 3090 First of all they draw too much power (maybe with a powerlimit it's OK) and they are not even available Who knows when they will be available I recommend a 5700 with BIOS mod which will make 52mhs stock and will draw 180W from the wall We will see what RDNA2 will bring to the table, but I don't think they will be much better performance wise, because they are rumored to still use GDDR6 like the 5700 series But I think the power draw will be lower AMD claims 50 better performance per Watt It will be a hot October and November
Comment from : BL4D3RUNN3R

Dino Sqautch
Never tried crypto mining I was planning on getting a 3080 to start but I might go with a few 570's learn some stuff n save up money, and wait to see what the big navi is likebrbrThanks man this is info is exactly what I was looking for
Comment from : Dino Sqautch

Jerimie Brunst
At current prices, the ROI on a 3080 is only 4 to 5 months That's insane Especially if you don't have a board that will accept 4 gpu's I just use my gaming rig I see it profitable for smaller machines
Comment from : Jerimie Brunst

ColourlessPixel
just starting GPU mining and I legit bought 2 570s this morning before watching this video lol

Mero Plays
Dont go for 3000 series cards right now I suggest like go for 5700xts These cards will be more cheaper in like next 2 to 3 months when thr will be big stocks availabale for 3000 series

Artificial Style
Already have a 2060 Super In my gaming rig that I use to mine 90 of the day (I'm at work all day) Thinking about using the spar 1660ti that was originally in my gaming pc along with picking up a few Rx 580 8gbs to make a mining rig Or should I get different cards?
Comment from : Artificial Style

Allen Luo
Now people are selling their 5700xt , I was able to get a power color red devil 5700xt for $320 And lot more xfx thic III around $360 Building 2 5700xt rigs now
Comment from : Allen Luo

༼zoTrAcK༽
ouch, if i'm buying 5600xt's, I can get a 300mh/s on ethash for the price of 1 of these
Comment from : ༼zoTrAcK༽

Henry Chimeka
It wouldn't hurt the cost and efficiency to mix 1 or 2 3080s to a string of 570s to see a good efficiency blend in total hash rate and power consumption in comparison to some other homogeneous rigs What do you think red panda
Comment from : Henry Chimeka

Benoit Arteau
i see the rtx 3080 at 944mh/s for 240watts

Xeno Altrax
Don't count on the "extra cores" of the 3080 helping out for mining The added cores are FP32-only cores which aren't used in mining algorithms since the algos utilize integer (INT32) and binary/logical operations and not floating point operations Ampere basically still has the same number of INT32 cores per SM as Turing (ie 64 integer capable cores), you only get the use of Ampere's 128 cores per SM if the kernel is issuing floating point instructions, which unfortunately is not the case for mining algorithms since they rely on integer and binary/logical operationsbrAny mining boost from Ampere's architecture will have to come from it's SM count increase, memory bandwidth, and/or core clock advantage over Turing The doubled FP32 cores are effectively 'dead' silicon when it comes to mining
Comment from : Xeno Altrax

abdullah sabhan
Nvidia is not as good in general as AMD in mining ETHASH and we know it, but we also must admit that we are losing ETH and ETC and it's coming boys, that's why I'm looking into Nvidia cards because they are the closest in terms of profit to ETH and ETC However with current prices it sucks really and not worth buying anything (that's if you are lucky to get your hands on anything that is vaulable really)brbr3080 with that GDDR6X might be worth it because it's cheaper than a used radeon vii and also might be better than the vii in terms of other coins and algos 3090 not worth it
Comment from : abdullah sabhan

Kieron McKay
I think a huge factor is did you upgrade from the 10 seriesDid you get one of the new 7nm AMD GPUs for the power efficiency, or pick up one of the 20 SeriesOr did you wait? If you upgraded, you're probably not as excited If you didn't this is probably the generation you've been waiting for Pure dollar cost and hash / wattyeah the theory could be correct, but do you have a 6 slot board and all the risers? Or do you just casually mine on a couple cards? The mere fact that there is a real debate, suggests there may be real value depending on your setup 3090 is also meant to be the Titan class replacement not the next TI class cardor so they say This also assumes you could actually buy one but no supply for anything hahah
Comment from : Kieron McKay

webby459
Tomorrow, and 3090, probably not But it would be a mistake to not at least look at the 3080 As you say, mix the hashrate with the diversity of algos, even in a down market you have lots of options on what to do, whether mining other coins or throttling power back a lot I will look critically at the 3080 vs 1660, and sell off some RX polaris cards to diversify into the nvidia
Comment from : webby459

ballain1
Dosnt make sens for anyone at the moment you cant buy them, never been so frustrated in order to spend money
Comment from : ballain1

Henry Chimeka
Great content as always Redpanda We also need to consider the stock cost of the new Nvidia cards when compared to AMDs But I think the older gen cards with great tuning will match and outperform the newer cards I am new to mining but I have learnt alot following you and the guys at discord God bless mate

What time did you get your order confirmation on the Trio? I was 11:44AM ESTbrWish us luck!

3080 probably would be the best buy for mining if can get at decent price I have been looking to get hands on one of this, but not possible for net 2 month ;(

Looking forward to your bench tests on that 3080brNot sure if I'd scoop one up But if I do, I'd wait until after the hype has died down
Comment from : Serge

pin689
nvidia cards had never been good at cryptocurrency mining because they were always more expensive than amd cards New 30x0 series has about the same hashrates per usd as 5x00 series amd or radeon vii which had been a year on the market already for example 3080 is comparable to radeon vii or two 5700 xt both in cost per mh/s and in power consumption per mh/s
Comment from : pin689

the only reason to buy a 3090 for mining is so that you can misappropriate it for gaming

I was planning to pick up a 3090 for my gaming rig After seeing some early benchmarks it doesn’t look like it’s worth the price

Mike Roylance
I'm more of an "enthusiast" miner (in other words, I break even or lose money), I do plan on getting one However, I think these will be gone just as fast as the 3080 I will be testing its hashrate out, but letting my 2080S mine

I'm happy with my 7 x RX570 rig doing 217MH/s No need for a 3080/3090, though I would love a 3080 for gaming

Hey did u see the new cyphereum coinits a minable coin What r u opinions on it?
Comment from : dont subscribe

Elemental Powers
Personally I would buy a 3080 because it will maintain a higher resale value compared to the RX 580 or 570 which can't Ray Trace or play the latest games at highest settings With the 3080 it will maintain its price fairly well unless Nvidia releases another generation in the next two years
Comment from : Elemental Powers

NeverLace
Would it make sense to buy a 3080 just to mine with it? Probably no? Depends on how much convenience you wanna get in return for efficiency Its just 1 card, easy to set up on a regular computer No need to build a rig just for 1 card Im replacing my 1070 with a 3080 on my personal computer I will use the downtime to mine for sure, but I would not build a rig just for 3080s Thoughts?
Comment from : NeverLace

Cédric CRISPIN
Save your money my brother that RTX3090 is pure nonsense lolbrI think in the whole RTX3000 lineup currently, only the RTX3070 could be interesting for mining!brBut at this point to be honest, because of the huge impact of the human malware aka COVID-19 in the whole industry in ASIA, i would just wait to see what AMD has to offer next monthbrHappy midweek <3
Comment from : Cédric CRISPIN

It’s likely better to go after Radeon 7’s than the 3080’s - 3090’s save yourself money and time man it isnt worth it!!!

Until more are in miners hands, its not worthwhile for the mining program devs to put much work into em yet Give it 3 months

I wouldn’t waste the time or go through the trouble of trying to get one of either of them rather just wait for the bullshit to die down like the moronic eBay sellers
Comment from : wreckless _

dastardlyman
the rdaeon vii seems to still be very competitive if you look at hash per watt so mine are both at 83 megahash and pull 240 watts at the wall total so thats 2 radeon viis doing 166 megahash drawing 480 watts from the wall total so that includes mining motherboard everything using a corsair 850watt gold psu i think the samsung 8nm process is a bit meh they should have paid to go on tsmc's 7nm process MINERS WAIT FOR BIG NAVI FORGET 3080 / 3090
