As a resident of Washington state, I can assure there are no shortage of bitcoin miners along our rivers near the dams It's littered with shipping containers and abandoned electrical infrastructure Mining is a game with narrow margins Cheap energy is competitive advantage But it's because it' cheap energy Those guys give zero F's about clean energy nor their impact on the communities in which they operate It's not the environmental issues that bother us It's the fact that they are self-interested parasites

The only solution is to ban the sale of bitcoin and any other digital currency that leans on mining to function Every other solution is just marketing bulls**t I wish I could say that I am surprised that the Wall Street Journal would be conned into giving credence to this storyline (green mining), but WSJ is occasionally blinded by money making schemes
