Medical specialties are a much-debated topic In my CRNA program, I've worked with anesthesiologists and some CRNAs who say they wish they had gone the surgical route instead I personally look at the lifestyle anesthesia offers and much prefer it to the one a typical surgeon lives I also enjoy being able to sit for short intervals during long cases and do not envy the staff standing for hours bent over the table physically working in layers of sterile garb Comment from : @BoltCRNA |

I was about to apply into general surgery because I really liked it and I didn't mind the personalities However, the lifestyle really turned me off and I switched to a different specialty I don't think I could handle waking up early everyday and being the workhorse of the hospital and not getting paid as well as some of the other more lucrative specialties General surgeons should be clearing a million for all the shit they have to deal with Comment from : @PeeedaPan |

Great advice Dr Parker I will be starting at a DO school next year, and I will definitely be taking this to heart One of my personal goals is to have a family and be a great father and husband I don't think I can do that if I am in a specialty with a lot of negative people! It's easy to say "I won't be like them" because part of me is still the idealist that likes to think I can accomplish anything I set my mind to, but there are certain obstacles which just make those goals unnecessarily hard such as you have described here Thanks for this video, and for all you do man! The truth is being any kind of Surgeon you will not have “Great” work-life balance but you can keep trying to be around as much as possible Matter of fact any kind of job that is in high demand will more than likely require a lot of your time How do you think all of these top successful people get to the top?
