This could've been catastrophic, oxygen cylinder explosion - if it had hit the wing it would've meant fire and probably total loss I don't think it's safe to transport oxygen cylinders in aircraft Remember the Florida everglades crash because of oxygen cylinders that ignited and brought down the plane into a swamp If I'm flying I would like to know if they are transporting oxygen because I will take a different flight Comment from : Freddie |
|
By law all pressure cylinders have to be tested every 5 years to ensure that they are safe Comment from : Mark Giblin |

Damm, Explosion at 29000 feet according to this video intro, but your title states "Boeing 747 explodes at 29000 feet" Nope, it was a rapid decompression due to the faulty nr 4 oxygen tank Looking at the damage it can be safe to say that it was a "bomb" that exploded on board It could have easily pierced the fuel tanks in the right wing and blew up the aircraft but it did not They are very lucky indeed 😒😒 Comment from : marius kuhrau |
|
I thought Quantus had a perfect record 100 million later (repaired) still perfect i thought Comment from : Darryl Schwitz |

Qantas has a great record but when they outsourced their maintenance to India all these problems started to emerge There is a big focus on maintenance quality that is being lost at the rate of cheaper services And it’s not worth it Comment from : Dan G |
|
I was in a very tricky situation As a passenger, our flight got into trouble and the plane was in a rapid, uncontrolled descent The pilots were clueless and panicking and all the passengers were screaming their heads off I am a commercial airline captain myself and got into the cockpit, took over the controls, and managed to stabilise things and land the plane safely I am a true hero and saved many lives Comment from : Jeremy Brown |
|
I don't even have to watch this to tell you NO Qantas 747 has EVER exploded midair, Engine malfunction yes but none have EVER exploded, Clickbait at its best Comment from : Blue Kiwi |

Can anyone tell me if this flight was at capacity? It would seem 350 passengers (I guess depending on class configuration) is below maximum seating capacity for a 747 in normal or any circumstance, so would there not be oxygen masks dropping to unoccupied seats? What I am inferring is that if my mask did not drop and I saw others being unused, you can bet your ass I would make haste to that seat Seems absurd that those 4 would not do the same ("I'm sorry sir, you may not enter 1st class under any circumstances!" That would be like sitcom funny) Am I wrong? Comment from : Michael Esgro |

This incident dispelled the aviation myth that when decompression happens, it’s not like the movies People don’t get sucked out unless the hole is huge, and objects don’t go flying round the cabin as a matter of course - sometimes the hole is blocked by debris Two - inflatable masks don’t ‘fill’ with oxygen when you are breathing them People panicked a bit when their oxygen bags didn’t inflate They thought they weren’t getting oxygen when in fact they were This led to a change in emergency announcements that says now “ the bag will not inflate when oxygen is being delivered” Comment from : Spotted Reptile |

Your videos are superb, but I just wish there was a voice-over and not that much of text :-) Sometimes I multi-task and do something in the kitchen and would only come back to the PC to see an important part of the video When I have to read it all and really focus I have this voice in my head telling me that I'm wasting my time :-D Regardless, really appreciate your channel, this is just one of those first world problems :-) Comment from : David Beran |
