btw title is misleading - it was not a crash, it just went too far away as I understood from a video After writing this, went to wiki, and actually there was a crash: "The collision with the antenna caused the nose and right wing landing gear to collapse, the nose landing gear being forced back into the fuselage" which was not mentioned in the video I think

I think the ATC and F/O should have performed better but ultimately the cause of the crash lays with the clown in the left seat Too high, get it down, no, we'll go around but I'll forget to press the big button marked TO/GO, wait, let's stop after all but I'll just inadvertently disable the auto brakes and retract the spoilers because I will fail to retract all 4 thrust levers Really?

I think that the fact that they were hydro-planing down the runway must have helped the structure of the plane! Something is telling me that as dangerous as hydro-planing is, it might have helped in this case!?!

Amazing how so many pilot errors from experienced pilots in this incident There is no doubt thats why checklists are there but basic stuff I've flown into Bangkok many times as a passenger Don Muang is not used for international flights and hasn't been for a long time It rains a lot often

Pilot error with CRM issues This accident underlines (again) the need for an overrun area at the end of the runway (filled with gravel or other material to stop overrunning aircraft)brbrThere is no reason for bad weather to create a safety situation like this The conditions for a stabilized approach are clear, and if the landing does not occur at the proper point, go around and perhaps entering a hold should be automatic The reason there are so many accidents in bad weather landings is the pilot attempting to save a bad approach This is one reason the airliners are dumping so much automation into the landing process

Generally you can skip the first 3 minutes, no one cares who the flight crew was, the time on the ground before take off and most of the bs in the first three minutes
