A few people are asking why masks weren't being worn and the simple answer is that they weren't required Both at the time and even now, the ACT government and health authorities were saying masks were unnecessary in public places They were provided in the fly well packs if people wished to wear them brOtherwise thanks for the comments everyone!

I know this was posted 2 years ago, but it still makes me cry Not getting the opportunity EVER, to fly in the Qantas 747 brbrMy favourite memory of the 747 though, is when I was flying from Sydney - San Fransisco, entering the international terminal, looking for the United 787 that we were flying on, and seeing the Qantas 747 parked next to our aircraft brAn exceptional aircraft it is and it's sad to see it gobrbrThank you SO much for sharing your experience to some people, like me, who have never flown on the Queen Of The Skies before We will all always keep you in our hearts!

As a result I'm also really sent a medal about the Boeing 747 while the airlines that bought the Boeing 747-8i would stand for Intercontinental at least those are crap will be flying for at least the next two decades but for the Boeing 747-400 those are pretty much done and it's really sad that the Boeing 747-400 are are the ones that are like going out first even though they were the most popular to get it's also sentimental because again considering that Boeing's decided to discontinue the 747 program I'm really sentimental about that I love the airplane

The Boeing 747 in my opinion is the best looking airplane to have ever been built and it's sad that Boeing's discontinued the Boeing 747 program

So Sad, This Pristine Plane is going to be scrapped if it has not already and replaced by a much more cramped 2 Engine Plane! I Guess the Future is downsizing! So Sad! Like Scrapping a Vintage Rolls Royce to make some new KIA's!

I was lucky enough to fly on the Helderberg prior to her crashing and I was mesmerised by the size of the planeThe 747 is majestic and a plane that is definitely the queen of the sky She will always be number 1 in my bookThankyou for all the wonderful memoriesEnjoy your retirement,to the entire fleet all over the world

Too late but i will share if you wish to read I flew back and forth from San Francisco to Incheon airport in Seoul, Korea, for many years on the same United 747 For a long time I wondered if it was the exact Same airplane So I started reserving seat 21A for every flight I etched my initials in the side of the meal tray that faced the outside, so it would not deface the tray andncause them to replace it Andyep, same airplane each time I heard there were actually three 747s running this route, but somehow i always got on the same one I never felt safer than when I was on that plane When United swapped it out for the 777, I was pretty sad Afternthat we began traveling a different route on a 787 and I got over my sadness on the first 787 flight I do love and admire the 747 I th8nk the 787 will eventually get the respect it deserves as well

Great video Paul thank you for sharing 💯brThe lady making the PA announcement after the landing had some real emotion in her voice she did well to get through it I was tearing up again watching this I really cried watching the last Concorde land at Heathrow 😢 I often wonder what it's like to be the flight crew who have to land and park a perfectly good beautiful 747 in the desert knowing it will never fly again just stripped bare and scrapped it must be a very arduous job

As the incoming 747 touches down in Canberra, are those actually a group of ‘roo’s standing there in the foreground watching? brI mean, suppose they’d decided to have a bit of a hop out onto the runway just before that baby landed? Could they do a fast pull up and go-around when the tower calls…brTOWER: ‘Sorry, mate, bit of ‘roo out there today, best to crank her ‘round…’brPILOT: ‘@#$ ‘roo’s!!!

747's are becoming more scarce at the world's airports People will soon enough be reminiscing over flying on these 'queens of the skies' in a similar fashion to older people remember flying on 707s and DC8s, as single-deck wide-body twins dominate routes globally They certainly had a better run than the 707s

Downunda Thunda
Did you know that despite being an international airport, Canberra doesn't typically hoast large aircraft? In fact, the largest aircraft it commonly services is the Boeing 777-8 This was a special arrangement by Qantas with Canberra Airport to accommodate this 747 for the farewell flight

Charlie Nelson
A beautiful tribute Paul, fitting for the Boeing 747 Couldn't help but pause and acknowledge the disappointment of the early 747 retirements at Qantas whilst keeping in mind how lucky the company & its people were to enjoy many planned farewells For the almost forgotten people at Ansett who lost so much in 2001 & with their abrupt halt in the shadow of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, it was a devastation Congratulations Qantas & to the 747 however I will always remember Ansett Australia & the name that left our skies nearly two decades ago without a meaningfully deserved & gracious farewell

Great video My favorite flight on a 747 was on a Qantas flight from SYD-LAX in 1985 I was about 15 or so and they allowed me to visit the flight deck while in route to LAX and I was able to sit in the jump seat for a few minutes It was a lot of fun
