Derek Van Tonder
I love your videos and I hate to be THAT guy but both the satellite Internet bump on the top of the fuselage and the engine cowlings are modern types that wouldn't have been found on a 747-400 in 1999 I'm guessing the model in your flight simulator didn't have type-accurate models for 1999 Please don't take offense, your videos are excellent

FalcoGer
You never cancel a go-around Unless your wing fell off or something similarly ridiculous
Comment from : FalcoGer

FalcoGer
I'm confused How do flights get their numbers? I don't believe this is the first flight quantas ever took, nor do I believe that with tens of thousands of flights every day, the flight numbers for any airline would still only be in the hundreds On the other hand, whenever an accident or incident occurs, it is referred to by the flight number instead of the registration number, so it must be unique to the specific aircraft used, otherwise you could get two incidents with the same flight number if it were to be something like a bus route Also the name is confusing If it's THE flight quantas 001, that means that there are no others If it's like a bus route, you would expect flight 001 to be taking off every so often, maybe even multiple times a day and maybe even flying at the same time Or do they just label them 001 through 999 and whenever they get to the end they loop around? Or is it like a bus route, but whenever there is an accident they never use the same number again? What gives?

What was the fate of the officers career?

Cliff Nelson
No airbrakes apparently

Megsy Bond
The old saying, 'Too many cooks spoil the broth', comes to mind here The Captain threw in some salt, and didn't tell first officer, who added some more salt without tasting it first, and it all went to s**t! They're very lucky that didn't end up much worse
Comment from : Megsy Bond

Gemetics
Why the name “GreenDotAviation” ? Judging by the color of the underware of those in your videos “BrownDotAviation” would be more suitable
Comment from : Gemetics

apski
i like a big fat Boeing 747 as my backup vibrator
Comment from : apski

Steve Vogt
That happens when you only learn on computers and not the real thing i would have instinctly searching for brake power whatever i used to stear the machine 😮‍💨😮‍💨 simply this was avoidable to 100reminds me at 80 year old people driving a car and either the brakes or reverse thrust were acivatedthats for sure a problem by the pilots, not the policy, they sit behind the wheel not the policy or company 🤔
Comment from : Steve Vogt

St Nicholas
And this all happened on my birthday 😮
Comment from : St Nicholas

S Castellino
After watching many of these videos, I feel like everyone on this flight we're very lucky Hydroplaning is no joke I take even driving in the rain very seriously It's scary watching people recklessly drive or make minor mistakes while the road is wet

Tib_Top
What happened to the wife?
Comment from : Tib_Top

Cheryl McKinnon
Three factors: Qantas had ordered pilots to brake to save fuel instead of using reverse thrust, the runway was wet, and the pilot was distracted by his wife in the cockpit It cost Qantas more to restore the plane than to replace it, but they wanted to retain their record of never having lost an aircraft
Comment from : Cheryl McKinnon

Only Two Shoes
I still can't understand how you could have an extra pilot and yet not a single one was paying attention to the configuration during landing
Comment from : Only Two Shoes

Everyday Compress
RAIN MAN lied to me -_- QAntasbroO Qantas never crashbrnever crashed brREY:Green Dot Aviation did a video on Qantasbrbrim sorry but everytime i hear qantas i think of the movie simply titled Rain Man
Comment from : Everyday Compress

Nehmo Sergheyev
Roughly speaking, if you scale down a 747 to a meter, the skin would be 04 of what an aluminum soda can is People think of planes as solid hunks of metal, but actually, they are very fragile
Comment from : Nehmo Sergheyev

Riley
22:11 WOAH no wonder they had so many problems, they had lightning inside the cockpit!

Antonio Kastro Carlisle De Melendez Y Tenerife
I thought the plane looked different from a 747-400 and I was also curious why a second officer would be requiredas always thanx for these amazing videos and your narration and visualsU and Mentour Pilot are my two favorite aviation channels on here no doubt

Yana E Yanakieva
Welp, its not as bad as some other stories😅
Comment from : Yana E Yanakieva

Bjoern Altmann
That every airline has different rules seems silly The manufacturers know what their planes can and cannot do, so the settings for braking on a wet runway should be the same for a certain type of aircraft
Comment from : Bjoern Altmann

Scott McG
2:56 - Green Dot, I absolutely love your videos butbe honest with me, you've never gotten into a dog fight online have you

Comment from : KamakaziOzzie

Idar Polden
I don't like warthunder, I stop watching the flight due to the forced commerciale
Comment from : Idar Polden

Northeden
It's interesting to wonder why this first instinct is to know how to stop a plane on a runway I drive a 110,000 pound truck and that is always on my mind Constantly Perhaps drilling this into the minds of pilots might be a good idea
Comment from : Northeden

Pieter Schweitzer
Great video! Though the aircraft in your model is a -8 Qantas never had any Only -400s
Comment from : Pieter Schweitzer

Euan Gallagher
Very suprising considering qantas is the safest airline in the world with not one fatal accident and they’ve been flying since the 50s!!
Comment from : Euan Gallagher

Princess Peach
What is missed is that the reason for the reverse thrust policy was a company desire to reduce fuel use/cost too

NotTheBomb
This reminds me of a driving lesson my mom had taught me when I first started driving There was a yellow light and I accelerated to go, the hesitated and brakes instead I over shot the light and stopped a bit into the intersection My mom said that day “you either commit to stopping or commit to going Otherwise, you’ll fail at either”
Comment from : NotTheBomb

1wor1d
The problem with any Green Dot Aviation video on QANTAS is you know they'll all make it alive to the airport, bras to this day QANTAS has never had a major aviation accident, not one!!
Comment from : 1wor1d

Vrinda P
Reply pleas to my comment… very good video
Comment from : Vrinda P

Darren Hibbert
Sorry if this has been asked before but what spec computer is being run that shows these simulations? The graphics are amazing and very smooth Also what software is it? Thanks
Comment from : Darren Hibbert

Æmyv
It's only a matter of time before Qantas has a major incident Alan Joyce has absolutely destroyed the company He keeps getting multimillion dollar bonuses whilst the staff and contractors at all levels are being underpaid, overworked and silenced when they try to speak up about the issues The safety standards are dropping, and I can foresee a major accident if things don't change I can highly recommend the ABC (Australian) 4 Corners report on the state of Qantas, it's pretty alarming 😞
Comment from : Æmyv

save your bacon
I heard that the cost of repairs was $96 million That was very likely more than the residual value of a nine-year-old aircraft I would assume that the simple solution to getting above the glideslope, that is, overshooting, would be to pop up the spoilers I don't know whether this would breach standard operating procedures
Comment from : save your bacon

Milo
I’m boarding a plane right now They told me to put my phone in airplane mode but I’m going to keep using it until I don’t get any more signal
