When you watch my two samples side by side can you see a difference between 24 and 30? Which one do you actually think looks better?

Thank you for this video ! It’s a 2 yo one so you will probably not reply, but maybe someone will give me the information : I film everything in 30 (60 or 120 flor low mo), but when O want a special « 24 effect », I just reduce the speed of my 30fps movie on my 30fps timeline to 80, and it gives me a 24 « creamy-dreamy type of movie » 😂 is it good ? Is it stupid ? What can you tell about it ? Good or bad idea ? I am lost … 😅

180 degree shutter rule is complete bullshit 🙄brbrThere is only one rule Use the shortest shutterspeeds possible The human eye doesn‘t see motion blur The brain only distinguishes between important and unimportant If you move your hand and follow the hand with your eyes, the hand is sharp with zero motion blur Forget this nonsense already The nonsense that is practised today with the stupid 180 degree shutter rule has absolutely nothing to do with motion blur in the analogue era, it was just a simplification of the work with a light meter 🙄

I'm going from the Canon M50 to the Canon R50 soon, and 4k@30fps looks good when slowing it down to 80 for shooting real estate videos It's uncropped and will be paired with the Nisi 9mm f/28 lens This is the best aps-c lens available for shooting real estate for RF mount Cool video, thanks! 👍 brbrIncidentally, 5:05 - 5:15 was the funniest thing I've seen in a week! 😂 Reminds me of part "Sensei Seagal" 😏 and part, the beamed up Woodstock crowdbr🥋👊🤜 🎸☮️🍺👩🧔😵‍💫

I want to know if your view changes if you view the same footage in a pal country on pal monitor rather than a ntsc as the whole idea to my knowledge is to correct for the power grid frequencybrIf my theory is correct it is not a surprise to me that 24p feels different when viewed in an ntsc country

To me, it depends on how much camera movement 24 for just about no movement 30 fps or higher for more movement

8:38 To me the question of the screen you're watching the movie on is the most important when it comes to 24 or 30 fps Most amateur or YouTube drone footage is viewed on laptop or phone screens often with 60 Hz refresh rate The stutter happening with 24 fps footage on these screens looks really bad in my opinion So unless you're a film producer for movies displayed on TVs or at the cinema, there's really no reason to shoot 24 fps imo

This was a great breakdown and converted me from what I thought I would want - 24p and sold me on 30p I bhate/b 60p and that soap opera effect, but I was really surprised how 30p didn't give me that feeling Thank you for all the hard work in putting this together

Frankly, I don't see much difference in shot quality between 24p and 30p, although motion with 30p is smoother Also, 30p doesn't give you the "TV-shot on videotape-soap opera" look The original adoption of 24p video was to avoid this look (and make printing to film easier), because older video cameras used a 60i (interlaced) frame rate to create a 2997 fps frame rate Combine 60i with infinite depth-of-field, and you get the "soap opera videotape" look If you shoot at 30p with decent lenses, and often a shallow depth-of-field, you avoid that videotape look and feel For a long time, it was (for me) 24p or nothing But I'm sold on the 30p

not sure slowmo needs to follow the 180 deg rule Slowmo already is altered reality, seeing slow-motion motion-blur seems wrong

Thanks for the info and a bit of a history lesson Jeven! I’m just getting started with my own YouTube channel focused on guitar playing, and I’m thinking that 30p would likely be the better choice for smoother overall frame rate (would mostly be tripod filmed) What are your thoughts on 30p vs 24p in that application?

Great explanation However, if you shoot in 30p and your timeline is 30p, how do you introduce slow motion I shoot mainly real estate and I have seen many videos of professionals that swear by shooting in 60p and some in 30p slowed down on a 24p timeline So now as you may guess I'm totally confused Any advice??

use 24p if you have got a pro grade head like sachatler or oconnor

The only disadvantage of using 30 fps is that if you use special movie effects like Gunshots, Powers, Electricity etc they might appear less natural in your filmbrbrI’m 100 NOT saying you can’t make them look natural, it just might be easier editing 24…
