Very debatable You need a very good photo to paint natural skin tones, otherwise it's very easy to get dirty skin tones just by copying the colours from the photo For this reason, some system of mixing skin tones is very logical For the same reason, the artist must be able to interpret the colours that he sees in order to get what will be beautiful and natural

tone is just a general word tho, it doesn't pinpoint specifically if you are talking about hue or value or saturation or other measure, people with darker skin of course will have darker values and more contrast if you apply more or less light

This was very helpful, thanks However, by mixing these mostly opaque paints, the results are duller than the more transparent indirect method Do you have a way of getting the same flesh tones transparently through glazing ? And maybe include ways to get "dirty" colors indirectly again with a minimal palette It seems to me that glazing what should be the same colors is often different from allaprima mixing them and the effect not as deep vanEyckian? This and some other YT vids helped my painting skills jump from nothing to something very decent in a matter of 6 months This video is what gave me my eyes for painting somethinganother youtuber gave me the process of building the painting My personal experience with the tools gave me the skills to bring it all together lolbrbrThat moment I realized that the skin wasn't white or black but the reflection colorit's a mental block that has to be removed in order to paint better We must get out of our assumptions and paint what we actually see!

Actually, that particular Fleshtone color is mush better than most Flestones out there: usually they are much Pinker, but I would start with a darker hue of it!
