My problem is that I decluttered everything I do not wear or like But still I have more than I wish not sure what to do about it

I've been trying to tackle this issue for my teen son I've noticed, though, he wears clothes hard, so it's a relief to have a back-up in case Last weekend doing laundry, I noticed a nice, newer pair of light blue shorts which had black marks and mini holes on only half the seat I think he sat on asphalt After scrubbing with Dawn and tools, the material faded along with some spots but the miniature holes remained It occurred to me, they were a goner, but luckily, we have 30 more pairs of shorts I just know now not to buy light blue or light anything, again

Hi Joshua! I’m a minimalist and ironically work in retail! Seeing people fill their carts with clothes and stuff is my motivation for being a minimalist This weekend was 20 for employees I didn’t buy anything and of course people thought I was weird! Minimalism is a passion of mine

I have lost a significant amount of weight and was happy to donate clothes that are now too large! The donation center told me that they do not get good quality plus size clothing, so they were glad to get the items I brought Now I am trying to be much more thoughtful and minimal about my new wardrobe and what comes into it :)

Yes to all of this! I would add in that it is important to remember "age and stage"I worked in two very dissparate fields and the dress codes were different Now I am semi retired and doing dog sitting on the side This made it easy to get rid of business suits, dresses and any fancy clothes I kept one special occasion dress and sold almost every other fancy outfit :) And forget about heels at this stage of the game If the shoes/clothes are not comfortable they are GONE

I have never spent much on clothing I wear scrubs to work I have a pair of black jeans, a pair of blue jeans, and a pair of black slacks I have 3 t-shirts, a zip-up sweatshirt, 3 blouses, a cardigan, and one dress I have one pair of sneakers, one pair of casual shoes, and one pair of low heels That's it

About 2 months ago I made the decision to stop buying things that were made in China I also decided to start getting rid of things I’d already bought that were made in China My wardrobe took a big hit! And some of my favorite clothing items were removed and donated It was very helpful in starting this process of downsizing

I'm reminded of model/actress/author/film-maker Isabella Rossellini who went for years and was known for always wearing a black blazer, white t-shirt, white socks along with black loafers from the mens's section of the shoe store In her book "Some of Me" Ms Rossellini said she got the idea from being at a party in the home of her employer and on the way to the bathroom she saw in his open closet that he had many slight variations (ie: lightweight material for summer; different kinds of material) of what was really just one outfit --- I'm close to that myself with just a few pieces of clothing and I wear what used to be called "Sunday go to meeting clothes": for church I wear one of two white shirts and the same black pants

I have had a capsule wardrobe for several years now I have nicer clothes and plenty of outfits I have gone for brighter colours this year You will still get to shop, but for specific items and I treat myself each season to a few new things

I used to laugh when my mother was decluttering when i was in my 30s Now guess what i am now downsizing as i find with retirement the need for a lot of stuff whether it's clothes or household items is becoming unnecessary so my local lifeline shop has received boxes and bags of stuff also when i put on a piece of clothing and it doesn't work out it goes in favour of one that does i have tried to be firm all my life Thanks for reaffirming that good habits are good for everyone

The first step has tremendous effect! brbrTrack and tally your clothing expense for a year and you will be surprised how much you spend on clothes brbrI set a budget on clothing for 2 years It is hard in the beginning to see I get to spend so much less (but so much more reasonable) on clothing That made me really think twice when I see a clothing piece I like brbrI start to feel that there is an opportunity cost for every piece I buy if I decide to buy this piece, I may not have enough budget for the next one I like So I think very thoroughly before buying one and really love it afterwards brbrThat brings peace to my wardrobe We don’t need every nice clothing in the world

Joshua, I started watching your videos a month ago and I can say that I am on my minimalist journey I just sold some of my belongings and donated and threw away others I used to SHOP til I DROP but now I only shop for food , medicine, cleaning supplies and toiletries I have very few clothes now!

It’s a helpful concise list I’ve made some online sale purchases from a designer brand in the last few days, but the clothes fit well and they’re high quality I’ve developed my own minimalist classic wardrobe style I’ll admit as an older man I have a different sense of the importance of appearance and clothing than younger people It’s what I like and I honestly don’t care if people think my wardrobe seems overly formal brbrIn my opinion taking some pride in your appearance is a good thing - but that’s an individual choice Unfortunately, the suits and jackets, after repeated up and down alterations just no longer fit I’m having a hard time giving those up There will be a few replacements but probably just two suits, a black one for funerals, and either a grey or royal blue suit, and a few sport coats, no more than four

Good basic tips If I removed clothes that didn't fit or look flattering, nor the right color, I'd literally have 1-2 days of clothes max Sad but true I really need to do some shopping The good news is that I can replace pieces that don't work when I acquire new ones, and everything fits in my closet

Great tips Joshua As I decluttered my wardrobe like an onion, I took out all the mismatched hangers as my inventory went down I gave my closet a good clean and fresh paint, and now have all white hangers Making it pretty helped me want to keep everything simple and well organized I have a shoe rack that fits only 9 pair (all seasons) and that’s all I have I pared my jewelry WAY down too Now it is so easy peasy to be dressed, feeling good and on my way for whatever adventures the day brings
