If you're constantly having to attach a node to the original code every time you want to correct something, aren't you gonna end up with alot of "bandaids" over time which ultimately takes up more space?? Comment from : Snatched |

What if I need to access state from a http request in all the stuff I do on the backend? For example language, or database name, or whatever? With OO style I can easily inject the state into all my classes with a dependency container In functional programming you create a global HO function with the http state as parameter (that is technically functional programming), but the resulting functions are not any more pure than methods on my OO http controller classes Classes CAN essentially be higher order functions, too, if they only have methods, that compute from the constructor and method input Absolutely no different to functional style Essentially you are programming in classes with HO functions Pure classes, yes, but classes Comment from : weirdwordcombo |

|
Great talk! But why use FP when you want to build user interfaces ? Ain't that easier to conceptualise visuals in terms of objects ?brAt least for my brain it is I'm a manual person, so OOP comes very easily (I see the world in terms of interconnected objects)brI wonder if people that dislikes OOP just have a different brain that sees the world differently ! Comment from : William Mcmurray |

I think I understand the concepts of fp, I just can't wrap my head around how to organize code Also how does a library help handle state management if every function is pure? Can a function that returns a function use data created in the original function? Comment from : JSON |
