I got a new tri bike a few days ago Went down a good sized hill doing over 30mph, and got a speed wobble Never experienced this before Not sure it's my fault or an issue with the bike

Curly Sue
Thanks for all of your informative videos Got my ebike a year ago as couldn’t afford to run a car Today I had my second off the bike moment First was over the handlebars doing emergency stop but today’s emergency brake I had a flying lesson from the side pushing bike away from me Stopped a foot away from carMy whole left side was covered in wet mud, including my helmetbrSo I have a concern about my helmet being safe, due to contact with ground Visually it looks ok but should I get a replacement one? ThinkIng now a quick google search will give me the answer but that’s mostly conflicting

Martin R
I just fractured my wrist coming off at high speed: I guess I was "riding outside my ability" (too fast downhill) and "didn't read the road surface ahead“ (wet cobblestones) - beware rotting leaves on smooth surfaces like cobblestones, white lines and metalwork
Comment from : Martin R

Jonny HEWITT
This video out of all you’ve made is the one that’s most actually important in my opinion

A significant problem is maneuvering onto a path or road from grass, often the council has not packed the soil down and your wheel will either sink in or not mount the concrete or ashfelt resulting in a crash Happened to me twice, once resulting in a broken collar bone, and once sprained fingers, happened to a friend with loss of several teeth
Comment from : Andrewmic

Parker D
What did he say at 05:32?
Comment from : Parker D

Kevin Synott

Walker Firmin
Yall forgot the most inevitable way of crashing Hitting a patch of oil in a wet road How do you minimize damage when your bike hydroplanes down a road that looks like a rainbow trail?

Does high pressure like 120 psi would be more prone to crash when meeting potholes and cracks on the road?

supergamer
My experience with all of these problems in cycling:-br1) my first day of cycling was on an unofficial road which had nothing but rocks, gravel and sandbr2) BRO, Use that problem skillfully and you will be able to use it as a braking system (it worked very well when my brakes failed)br3) I broke my hand and a car's side mirror doing it LOLbr4)i don't use them too while cyclingbr5) Not a big deal, just apply half brakes of the rearbr6) yeah this i did and hurt myself badly, better ride slowly and conserve you energybr7) just try to avoid the obstacles (if you are an expert, better lift your bicycle off the ground)br8) Just go slowly and have 4 eyes

Comment from : Shihab Bhuiyan

William Haidar
Kinda going a bit too fast on the descents faster than the cars Reckless indeed so I'm trying to scare myself into becoming a safer driver👌
Comment from : William Haidar

Michael
I made the descend mistake on my new liter sportbike once, exit was sharp, downhill, and into a hairpin turn Locked the back wheel up, felt it slide, and luckily I was able to ease off it and get it back under control before getting to the curve Bad goddamn feeling
Comment from : Michael

Jim Wetzel
In over 9,000 miles of road cycling, I've had just one impact with the pavement That one was at 24 mph and cost me one helmet and some skin, temporarily It was on perfectly smooth pavement and happened so fast that I'm not sure how it happened I think I removed my right hand to wipe sweat, and "put the hand wrong" when returning it to the hood But my entire memory was "nice fast ride, here comes the pavement, how the hell did THAT happen?"
Comment from : Jim Wetzel

R OC
Watch out for tram lines also in the city They are so slippy No grip for bike tyres I've seen some falls caused by them
Comment from : R OC

nikodc2008
More like tarmac in the face moment
Comment from : nikodc2008

Foggy Goat
If you are riding in a city that has streetcars (I think they're called trams in the UK) be very careful not to get your wheel stuck in the groove of the rail, otherwise you will end up on the pavement If you have to pass your wheels over the rails to make a turn or dodge something up ahead, make sure you keep a wide angle between your wheels and the rails as you cross the tracks I had to learn this lesson twice before it caught on, even when I was riding bikes that had wider mountain and hybrid tires
Comment from : Foggy Goat

Ib Erik Söderblom
So, no pedaling from 6 o'clock to 12 o'clock ?
Comment from : Ib Erik Söderblom

Sam Tatge
The background of the wheel touch segment looks like the assassination scene of Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy
Comment from : Sam Tatge

Dean t
My best crash is due to ice Road looked wet so carried on and as soon as I hit the ice my front wheel decided to go bye bye and I fell off, the only thing I got was a bruise and some embarrassment as it was quite a slow fall

Iron Man
My chain broke yesterday on a steep climb The outer plate separated from the rivet I recently took it to my LBS so I'm disappointed that they didn't fully inspect it It was my first ride out since the service The chain was rubbing on the frame side of the front derailleur when in small front / big rear cogs Might this have had anything to do with it breaking? brbrIt has knocked my confidence a bit, out me of standing and pedalling hard I really want to gain the confidence to push hard again Any advice on how to prevent chain breakages? It is particularly scary when clipped in! Cheers
Comment from : Iron Man

Khristian Harold Galeno
Definetely been a victim of the car door incident Sent me and my bike flying Luckily no cars were behind me
Comment from : Khristian Harold Galeno

rodrod5000
There are two types of riders, those riders who have crashed and those riders who will crash
Comment from : rodrod5000

Ben Dorlinhg
Good advice, also be aware of the conditions, don't overcorrect, give as much respect, response time and space as you want to be given, and don't be a dick

Kanto Papa
I got into an accident while passing by a car parked not because of a door opening but because a dog came out from the bottom
Comment from : Kanto Papa

CSN
DO NOT bother with eye contact, they will look straight through you and you'll get a false sense of safety DO look at their wheels Wheels don't lie; it's easy to see the slightest creep forward (Well, except spinners, if anybody's still living in the early 00s)
Comment from : CSN

Nathan Williams
Haven’t we all misjudged Connors before?
Comment from : Nathan Williams

Tom Smith
When I got back on the bike, at age 66, I was worried about crashes, and what could happen to my old bones After sbout 900 miles of riding I had not fallen off the bike, and was telling myself maybe I was going to avoid having a crashless than 100 yards later the frint wheel veered left snd I went backside over teakettle and landed in a heap with the bike partly on top of me The only think bruised was my ego, but I did lose some skin I looked yo see ehat I must have hit to make the bike veer off so suddenly, but the toad was smooth as glass I think the riding gods were just PO'd at my arrogance and wanted to teach me a lesson
Comment from : Tom Smith

Jack Jones
Be very careful turning a 90 degree bend that has wet leaves across it Try and avoid the leaves if you can as they are like ice and you will lose the front end Not fun
Comment from : Jack Jones

DiscoParachute
Was doing a uturn at 15-20km/h, pedal struck the tarmack, wheel went in the air but managed to stay upright Only time I've pedal struck and stayed upright!
Comment from : DiscoParachute

J-bird
My first crash was really weird I was mountain biking, the bike was a bit too short for me (length wise) So when I turned hard for a sharp turn, my foot scraped the front wheel and was yanked into the spokes by the shoestrings The wheel pulled my foot into the front fork and stopped, sending me over the handlebars I was somehow uninjured other than a nasty bruise, but the front wheel had come off and was bent around my ankle The front fork was also bent, and dumped hydraulic fluid all over me Either my bike was made from very cheap material or I have adamantium bones Needless to say, the bike was totaled and I parted it out to fix my good bike
Comment from : J-bird

Joe S
Thanks for the tips!!
Comment from : Joe S

EX0stasis
Is “junction” the British term for “intersection”?
Comment from : EX0stasis

EX0stasis
1:50 lol I was super amused by those clever euphemisms for crashing here
Comment from : EX0stasis

Helena B
very right about phone Everytime I use it while riding the bike it feels dangerous even if I go at a slow speed
Comment from : Helena B

S3thc0n
Add "Looking at your bike while on the go" - bad idea! You can get to the bottom of that rattle when not on the road
Comment from : S3thc0n

front disk brake lock up should be in here just done it 2 weeks ago while descending and fractured hand
Comment from : Kumar Maruthai Pillai

Stacyn videoita
Cars and ice Not knowing how to ride with studded tires When I approach icy surface I tend to slow speed forgetting the very fact that you have to maintain speed in order to stay upright Car tires dig grooves on the icy surface of the road, so it is full of surprises, especially when covered with snow I hate it I hate winter and I hate ice Still, even in great, summer road conditions cars have crashed with me, because they were not looking at my direction
Comment from : Stacyn videoita

Sharpie
I cycled into the back of a car on Boxing Day
Comment from : Sharpie

Tony Tsoi
Should mention about slippy ground when scanning the road ahead My first crash was riding a bicycle lane with moss and water (with tress along the bicycle lane) with my helmet cracked My second crash was riding in an roundabout with oil on ground (probably some vehicle leak oil while turning) and I was hospitalized for 3 days and minor bone crack on my wrist
Comment from : Tony Tsoi

Eden
I reccomend a tip for any cyclists mtb, road, etc:brbrDon't tie a jumper/coat around your waist I was out with a group of mates on our bikes on a track and he had his coat tied around his waist It got caught in the tire, and he nearly got flung off
Comment from : Eden

Jake Boxer
Never forget hitting a pothole going down a hill while braking for a junction and i went head over heals and fuck it hurt my shoulder from trying role out of it
Comment from : Jake Boxer

Eduardo Richard
Loose gravel or any slippery surfaces such as train tracks Crashed a few time because of those
Comment from : Eduardo Richard

Ana Ta
One more thing Use radar! You have to know info about approaching car from behind (their speed and distance from you), and worn that car about your presence
Comment from : Ana Ta

Sam Werner
Don't forget proper maintenance! I didn't maintain my chain and gears properly, so my chain skipped as I went over a bump and ended up breaking my collarbone when I hit the ground
Comment from : Sam Werner

David Sullivan
Don't overlap wheels on purpose But, also, don't ride directly behind the front rider's rear wheel I like to be a couple of inches left or right, so that if they do slow down suddenly, you have some distance to move up along side them (briefly; before you slow down) Instead of bumping their rear wheel with your front Because it's always the rider in back who will go down
Comment from : David Sullivan

Hugo Alkimim
Crashed for the first time 2 weeks ago after slipping on some sand on the road
Comment from : Hugo Alkimim

Peter Colichidas
Most of these I already knew but a refresher is always good
