Not a question for Alex, but a comment: my first sweater I am knitting now is based off of a sweater I found on the internet I want Plenty of mistakes already made as I try to recreate it using the skeleton of another pattern, but not enough to frog the project Totally recommend for sure! Thanks for a really enjoyable podcast You sparked a lovely memory of my nan doing the ribbing and my mum knitting the bodies of jumpers for us when we were kids brI've had a few thoughts about yarns Frangipani yarns specialise in 5 ply gansey yarns They also have a traditional gansey pattern knit in the round with underarm gussets etc, Gladys Thompson's collection of patterns from fishing villages is a great resource if you want to put together something meaningful based on location Most of the traditional patterns are knit and purl combinations brOther yarns to think about are Daughter of a Shepherd, John Arbon, Grey Sheep Company and Southdown Yarns if you are interested in British yarns with lovely back stories Comment from : Jane Lithgow |

I think knitting flat, is probably easier than in the round Tension is easier to check, and you are knitting each piece separately, so the garment isn't overwhelming The garment doesn't stretch as it is seamed and gives it structure, so it last longer brLovely to see you both Comment from : Anita Lou |
