Perfect speed to easily follow the moving parts, Excellent video! Comment from : @adambergendorff2702 |
👍👍 Comment from : @nomikhan747 |
Always fascinated by the mechanical engineering involved in coming up with these mechanisms I want to know how it is calculated ie for x motion I need y linkage Comment from : @andredegraaf1643 |
Great video though imho it'd be even better if you included graphics of the airflow so viewers not in the know can see what the purpose of Fowler flaps is? Comment from : @andydporter5136 |
Verylike Comment from : @shamalperera4875 |
A toast to Mr Fowler !! Here Here !! Comment from : @mikemiller659 |
What makes this a Fowler flap and not just a flap? Is it the bottom hinged part of the flap? I can see how hinging it like that allows it to be more curved but I could still think of the whole assembly as one flap Comment from : @jackhammer111 |
What I find especially amazing about this setup is that these linkages allow the very complicated synchronization of each component of the flaps to be done with just a single actuator Comment from : @bobogus7559 |
these flaps belong to the triple 7 Comment from : @Marianito1234 |
Magnificent Well done! Comment from : @robjohnson8522 |
That is some sophisticated linkage right here Comment from : @jaehaerys9194 |
Imagine being the guy told to go out and design this for an aircraft 😲 Comment from : @TheUtuber999 |
Really excellent video Better would be to put in the sound that flaps make while in operation, eg in the workshop Comment from : @thomaskraus834 |
Rubbish soundtrack Comment from : @donaldstanfield8862 |
Rube Goldberg would be proud of this wonderful and detailed animation Comment from : @katout75 |

What beautiful mechanism! As a kid I've always wondered how fowler flaps extend in and out Thanks to this video now I have full understanding Comment from : @envitech02 |
reminds me of bird wings Comment from : @RifaOnGaming |
Long may we remember Fowler! Would love to see a set of massive triple-slotters as worn by our mate the B747 ;-) Comment from : @MichaelChapman |
That's a very complicated linkage but its ingenious and works like a dream! Comment from : @envitech02 |
yo dawg I heard you like wings so I put some wings in your wings so you can fly while you fly Comment from : @ArtietheArchon |
Now that's some serious geometry Comment from : @drfiberglass |
I invite anyone to model these exciting designs by Nathan Coopedge: wwwquoracom/q/nathancoppedgeblog/Nathan-Coppedge-s-TOP-PERPETUAL-MOTION-MACHINES Comment from : @NathanCoppedgeVideos |

It’s sooo hot!❤️ Comment from : @user-xx8pv6ir8y |
Isn't how my wifes flaps work Comment from : @craigeagle9209 |
👍thanks 👍 I know the mechanics of flaps now Comment from : @typhoonalex |
Do you sells? Comment from : @alexandrebrito3945 |
i like it Comment from : @TegoSuwarto |

Seems so fragile All these moving parts just for moving a piece of wing? Comment from : @1StIwY1 |
Clever Mr/Ms/Dr/ Prof/ Rev Fowler Comment from : @johndean4998 |
Ok for how it move, but we need to know how it work with the aerodynamic too Comment from : @joelchao1 |
It is my big question when I take plane, today I get the answer Comment from : @Allen-wk5sc |
Whoever invented those flaps is a genius 😎😎😎😎👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻 Comment from : @guytero8812 |

Show projeto expetacular Comment from : @ricardoalves5092 |
does anyone here have the patent number or the design name of this fowler flaps? please inform me, thx Comment from : @PinCYen |
Very good video I've seen other videos that show all the movement from an outside perspective, but seeing this demonstration of the internal mechanism at work is more interesting Fascinating stuff, good work 👍 Comment from : @valobrien9596 |
Please have mercy on us peasants Comment from : @masso172 |
Does someone know how to dimension the mechanism in order to achieve the movement desired? Comment from : @xavivalls1719 |
I love Fowler flaps as that is my surname Comment from : @bugproductions9050 |
Nossa muito loco, o professor Juju manda bem mesmo em, UTFPR-LD é muito loco !!! Comment from : @DiegoHenrique-gs9pj |
What gives the initial movement to this? Comment from : @ezio-fe9su |
IKt would have been cooler to simply animate the slotted fowlers on the Boeing 727 and 737 series Comment from : @crsvetteii1753 |
Someone has kinematic analysis of this? Comment from : @ezio-fe9su |
I wonder how do this mechanism can hold the wind force in such hi speed, in thousand landing and take off cycle in every condition (clear, rain, snow, etc)? Such an engineering art Comment from : @lukmanseptaekwara4095 |
Fowler flaps are amazing Very complicated design Studied this in engineering All Boeing 737, 727s use this The idea is not to drop the flaps down in one piece like a Cessna But three different flaps in sequence That still allows airflow to get threw each gap Each flap is designed like a wing Air flows between each flap Thus reducing drag and creating lift Comment from : @billr2220 |
Very strange music Comment from : @JustMe-zu4ex |
That is truly a work of art It reminds me of some of the complicated linkage setups that BMW and Mercedes have for their roof retraction that folds into the trunk Engineers are awesome Comment from : @robbiehobbs2009 |
Ok Flaps come out and retract So what? Comment from : @alexandrosstergiou7688 |
Excellent video thank you very much Can we have the same one for the leading edges, please? Comment from : @STEN3326 |
